That's it really. Everyone at the maternity unit seems to carry their notes around in one, but I was never given one, probably because I've been consultant-led so no midwive appts since 16wks.

Anything I actually need in there, or is it just a lot of advertising waste paper?

I carry them to the hospital. Will start taking them places when I get abit further on, seems abit silly at 20 weeks as I'd only end up leaving them somewhere.

Carry mine with me. MW told me to as:

  1. It won't happen, but if you're ever unconscious/head injury there are things they give you that are a no-no for babies (oh and I'm allergic to some of those things too)
  2. They have a baseline of your stats and your progress, so if in an emergency they're very useful
  3. They've got all the contact numbers you may need on them... Plus had a lot of early bleeding...so just wanted them i.c.e. Got the handbags now, so just keep them on me. I know many Mums-to-be that haven't worried about carrying them though.

Hi Fluter, I'm just a couple of weeks behind you and yes, am astonished at how suddenly I went from feeling fine to feeling VERY pregnant indeed. I now get tired having a shower! Hope you're feeling ok.

Thanks also Julie and Footyfan for those links, am off to have a good read later which will probably prove that MN is a much better source of info than anything that comes from the NHS!
