I don't think mine are too bad by any stretch as they don't hurt or anything, I know they are a normal part of pregnancy, but do they go away or do I have to go to the doctor?

They don't go away without help. Once you have the baby ask the GP for some ointment to make them shrink and go away, proctosedyl is v good. Don't worry you will not have a bunch of grapes sticking out your arse for ever Wink

Grin I bloomin well hope not chocolate!

Thanks for the advice, not something I have had to deal with before.

The joys of pregnancy indeed.

Mine were not too bad in pregnancy, nothing a tube of xyloproct could not ease. After birth was another matter entirely. Pain was horrendous, worse than birth. But now, 7 weeks later, all gone. Actually was pain free after 2 weeks.
Good luck!

The best creams tend to be prescription only, my GP prescibed proctosedyl and it has really helped with the swelling and pain, they are still there but not bothering me. I can only imagine they are going to get worse before they get better with all the pushing during giving birth. I was given a great cream called scheriproct after having my daughter 4 years ago that soon made them disappear but it is not suitable for use in pregnancy. You can buy over the counter creams like anusol and germoloids but I found them pretty useless.

whomovedmychocolate · 15/08/2011 21:51

Prescription only ones work, the ones you buy at Boots, well they will slightly reduce your eye bags but not your bum bags in my quite extensive experience Blush

Thanks guys.

Ha! @ chocolate

I suppose the pushing during birth making it worse is really freaking me out so glad to know it can be sorted.

i found germaloids helped and a herbal gel called preparation h.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 08:14

Nonsense, I didn't push, heaven forbid, both mine came out the catflap. Grin It's the pressure of the baby on your bumhole frankly, that makes them occur.
