Last time I was so bored by now (29 weeks) but I feel this is going so much more quickly, even too quick. I still have lots of stuff to get and plan.
DD is keeping me really busy and the weeks have flown by, but I am starting to feel prety tired and slobbish now.

Does the 3rd trimester go as quickly or is it going to go really slowly again.

Its also so hot and muggy atm, I feel like a slug on rollerskates. :)

Bloody hell, they still make Topsy and Tim books?! I remember reading them at nursery 27 years ago when I was 3!

titferbrains · 31/07/2011 22:52

mrsbt like yr tip about camera. Have not done refresher course, now nervous that I won't meet enough ppl after baby born. Might get in touch and rejoin nct to find out about local events etc.

hi all i very very much agree with you!! DS is 3 and i remember with 1st pregnancy prectically sitting around and waiting for the baby to arrive, nursery was ready by 6months, clothes all washed and put away, even the bloody stickers on the wall were put up lol, now im 21weeks and dont know where the time has gone, i just started buying baby stuff 2weeks ago, but by 20weeks lastime all my shopping was finished!! DS excited about the baby sometimes, but doesnt want to know other times, we are having a boy this time round, i keep telling her its a boy but she insists it a girl lol.
She is also very very clingy she wants to be carried all the time! im starting to get very sore backs!!

PenguinArmy · 01/08/2011 06:39

reading with interest,

am also 29 weeks, DD will be 18-19 months so I feel like the advice on the DC1 is a bit above her head.

I'll be busy for the next month of so anyway as moving back to the UK tomorrow Confused

What are we getting into? I wasn't this nervous about the first one.

Ivortheengine8 · 01/08/2011 06:40

Really good adice thanks mrsblooming.
It will actually be my daughters birthday 2 days before the due date so I had planned a little party but will have to see if I am up to it or if some people can help out with that.
I agree with the bit about leaving the baby at home with someone and taking toddler out - I like it!

penguinm good luck with the move, hope it goes well :)
Topsy an Tim books are great, had no idea they were still in existance! Or maybe MrsBlooming just has some left from when she was ickle!
I know my parents have kept loads of books from when we were young - mostly Enid Blyton Grin They will be antiques soon!
needanswers, I iwsh I knew what the sex was this time. I have had to get all white and cream stuff, but if its another girly I will use al dd's stuff.

I read my mum's enid blyton books (admittedly she me very young). Me and DH were looking at some on ebay today. I don't think my mum still has hers which is a shame.

As you can imagine we've brought NOTHING yet.

Are you going to try and alone time every day or just a few times a week? I'm assuming that DH will have a lot of alone time with DD (he's been a SAHD for the last year anyway) but thought it might be a little while before I'm up to it properly, especially with BF.

MrsBloomingTroll · 01/08/2011 07:27

I can confirm that Topsy and Tim are alive and kicking to this day!

My PILs have the originals and they are very different books.

CBear6 · 01/08/2011 07:46

Once we're settled into things I'm hoping to get some alone time with DS each day.

Meal times for one, I doubt DD will be joining us at the table just yet so tea each night will be DH, DS, and D-me :) Baby will be sleeping in a basket in the living room during the day/evening and we plan to carry her up to her cot when DH and I go to bed. We're going to put her down around 6:30/7pm each night and then DS gets us to himself for his bedtime routine which starts at 7ish (I want to keep his bedtime routine as much the same as possible). Once a month I plan to get a babysitter for baby and take DS out somewhere, even just the park for an hour or two (and when his sister gets older I'll do the same for her). I also plan lots of play-together activities for when they get older.

I probably sound really naive. Know how sometimes you listen to people who don't have children yet talk about what they think it'll be like and you sort of feel bad for them because they're going to get a shock? Do you think people with three or four DCs think that about us?

Ivortheengine8 · 01/08/2011 16:56

Probably cbear! Grin its the thought that counts though!
Penguin, you should get a move on, I have at least bought some things ! Grin
I'm not sure about the alone time yet, some alone time just for me alone would be nice though! :) I'll pack both dc's off with DH for walks while he is on paternity leave.

Its been so hot today here in London, I kept having to stop every few minutes for a break and a drink!

think I've found the new pram I want - it's the uppababy vista.

Going to do some checking of reviews tonight and hopefully order tmw. Just hope it will come in time....

Still not sure if I have cholestasis, if I will be induced, if I will be able to go into labour naturally, if I will have a c-section, if if if! So am struggling to get into panic mode re: buying stuff. Ironically the only thing i don't seem have enough of is newborn babygros - might order those tonight...

It has been pretty sticky today Ivor! and I've been on about 6 different buses, getting to showroom for pram, hospital, then (sadly futile) attempts to get something lovely for my supper....

Ivortheengine8 · 01/08/2011 19:58

Titfer, are you getting a single then so you think?
That looks really nice, Bit pricey for me though :( I like the yellow one.
I have bought a new single pram for baby (hauck icoo peak 8) in the hope that dd will use a buggyboard but I'm not so sure now whether to get a double or not.
Its going to be really muggy tonight too :(

OP posts:
CBear6 · 01/08/2011 20:16

I've gotten a double (P&T Explorer) because DS will walk but only until he gets bored/tired/fed-up at which point he wants to either hop in the buggy or be carried. If he's not fastened in he has a habit of launching himself out and making a beeline for whatever it is that's caught his interest so I wouldn't feel confident with him on a buggy board. I'm going to use reins for short trips like the shops and back but for everything else he'll be in the doubles seat.

titferbrains · 01/08/2011 20:17

yes a single. Dd is not great in a pram, she is incredibly independent, and when seated is forever asking "can I run?" - I've been "training" her to use scooter a lot also. Am planning to wear the baby in a carrier and push her if need be. DD was quite small and never really got heavy/pudgy so am not too concerned about weight.

Ivortheengine8 · 01/08/2011 20:30

Thats what I planned titfer, I have a mei tei type carrier I bought too so was planning to do the same.
The only thing I am concerned about is obviously the longer trips and also her tantrums she has when she is walking and can't have what she wants.
I'm sort of wishing I had just bought a double now. :(
DH wont be very impressed though if I go and spend a lot more on another pram.

titferbrains · 01/08/2011 20:43

well am less likely to do a lot of really long trips in first 3 months, if it's really an issue (not having a double) I will look again at doubles, but I really just find them so cumbersome heavy, awkward to steer etc. and have never seen a style I like. Re: tantrums - well hope yr DD rises to the occasion of being a well behaved older sister! Thankfully DD's tantrums don't last long and are usually tiredness or hunger related. I guess part of being a parent to 2 kids is recognising the needs of both kids and attempting to deal with them promptly - I know I will do my best not to try to "stretch" DC2 between feeds, and will probably carry more snacks/give DD more chips/bread and generally stick to her schedule in order to avoid meltdowns like the one I brought on last week when I tried to squeeze in a shoe fitting before lunch....EEEk!

titferbrains · 01/08/2011 20:45

sorry - meant to say less long trips as it will be winter.

Ivortheengine8 · 01/08/2011 20:49

I use the very packed London buses too so a double would be a pain :(
I was thinking of getting a second hand to try one out.
