I do this as warmdown after my wing chun sessions. It struck me that it would be fantastic during the later stages of pregnancy for things like rib ache and circulation.

Has anyone practiced it during pregnancy?

As a Tai Chi instructor, you shouldn't really practice Qigong / Chi Kung in pregnancy, as, as you know, it moves energy in mysterious ways and can help bring the onset of labour.

When pregnant with my son, I was teaching but did not do the Chi Kung at all; just breathed normally without concentrating on the dantien.

By all means, use during labour but be careful during pregnancy itself.

Thanks Jane, I hadn't considered that it could bring on labour!

Strange really as I first encountered it when I was pg with DD2 in a class linked to the NHS . At the time, I declined to take part but the instructor certainly didn't see a problem with it. I'd tend to go with your view though, I have to say, at least now that I've done it I would; it makes me slur!

I wonder if anyone here has actually done it in pregnancy?
