Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing out breast pumps. Read our breast pump reviews for a list of the best products on the market.

Hope this helps! Flowers

When I was pg and looking at the options in Boots a woman came over to me and suggested I wait until after the baby was born before I bought a pump.

Was very good advice. I didn't actually use one much and found the Tommee Tippee one was good enough for my needs.

She saved me a fortune, I was all for paying £60 for an electric one.

Sorry if I am asking a silly question. First timer :)

If you wait with buying a pump what do you do if the breastfeeding is not working from birth? If I don't want to use formula then will I not need a pump just in case?

If you're struggling to feed initially you can express by hand. That's not a long term solution but it will do until you can get a pump, and saves the cost of buying a pump that you might not need.

Ahh..makes sense. Thanks Nocake.

A friend of mine hired a breast pump from her MW. She said she found it more effective than the ones you buy. Perhaps an option worth looking at?

We had a manual one but it was useless wish I'd bought an electric one
