Has anyone went to a music festival while pregnant?

If so, was it okay? Was there anything you done to make yourself more comfortable?

I am thinking of going to a festival this year. Being told it's a bad idea from many people though.

Not just went to but also worked at a few while expecting. Only you will know what will make your life better at that point in time. for me it was making sure I had a good supply of snacks with me rather than having just a couple of big meals in a day. And sleeping when ever I got a few hours down time during the day as I would be working till midnight.

I guess as audience having a chair and chair carrier would be handy.

Capacious waterproofs are also handy. BIG waterproof trews trousers that will go over bump.

Wow, and I was worried about just going to one! How far along were you?

Everywhere from just conceived through to about 6 months, then winter happened and I did more indoor gigs. Pantomime sound op at 7 months PG was entertaining, bump getting in the way a bit , had to to re-jig my set up part way through the 4 week run as bump changed shape.

Other top festival tips- own loo roll, own hand sanitiser and eat veggie.

I have just come back from Glastonbury and I am 32 weeks. It was amazing experience which I wouldnt have missed for anything! Yes it was very different to previous years but just as fun in a different way. I have written a blog post on my experience which I hope is useful for anyone thinking of going to a festival when preggers! Good luck. x charitychic.wordpress.com/2013/07/02/glaston-baby-how-to-do-glastonbury-or-any-other-festival-if-youre-pregnant/

I've just been working at Glastonbury and found out I was preg 2 days before we went. had to swap my tequilla shop for a new bra fitting and some pregnancy vitamins. Hardest thing was not trying to out myself as pregnant when everyone else was off their tits and I was stone cold sober. Managed it tho!

Morning sickness kicked in half way thru Portishead's set. FML.

Would defo do it again tho!

I did V when I was 6 months pg with DC3.
My biggest concern was the toilets but I was brazen and queue jumped and people were fine about it!
I did attract quite a lot of annoying attention from drunk people which got tedious. DH had a heated row with one man who kept pestering me to breast feed him Hmm
Other than that we had a great time and I was glad we went.
Don't know when will get the chance to go again, all our festival friends have had their PFB's in the last couple of years!

I went to Reading as a pregnant teenager. It was great.

My sister came with me to IOW a couple of years ago when she was about 5 months pg. I don't think she had the best time, but mostly that's because she doesn't really like festivals. Not sure why she came in the first place, tbh!

Charity, that's a great blog post! Wish I'd read all of that before embarking on Glasto whilst pregnant!

Sadly I found it more of a struggle than I thought I would this year. My DP didn't go so it was down to my friends to look after me - half of them couldn't care less, while the others were very supportive and did their best to look after me (although I think they were getting a bit fed up by the end of the weekend!) Also it didn't help that I was only 13 weeks and not obviously pregnant, so other festival-goers weren't as understanding when it came to things like needing space, needing the loo or needing to sit down. I think the weather, food and bands more than made up for being so exhausted and achey though!

I'm glad you had such a great time though :) And good on you for proving everyone that says it can't be done, wrong! Will you be taking the little one to Glastonbury next year?

I went to Download festival when pregnant with twins in 2012. We went RIP so I could have proper showers and toilets and the tent was next to car in case anything happened. Also I didn't have queue or be on my feet waiting. Cost a fortune but being pregnant I wanted comfort and safety.

Scrho seeing as you are in Scotland how about going to Belladrum? It's very family friendly. We can't go this year as it's far too close to D day for my liking, but intend taking the baby next year :D

And yy to inflatable beds just a little under inflated, am actually sleeping on one at home in the lounge Blush and it's so comfortable, has improved the quality of my sleep no end despite the 4 pee runs of course

Itsmymove · 04/07/2013 14:28

I was at T in the Park last year at 5 months. Worst weather ever and was a complete mud bath but I had a great time! We stay about 20 mins away so just took the car and went one day....going next weekend so fingers crossed for the weather!

Itsmymove · 04/07/2013 14:30

Have u been to belladrum before foof? We're planning on going next year too with babies, will be an unusual experience I'm sure!

FoofFighter · 04/07/2013 14:43
