IVF and early induction?

I'm 40+1 weeks pregnant and have just been told by my hospital that they have changed protocol and are now recommending earlier induction for IVF babies at 40-41 weeks rather than 41-2 due to an increased risk of still birth in late term pregnancy. The consultant told me there is statistical data to show a higher incidence of still birth in post 40 week IVF pregnancies but couldn't say whether this is connected to the IVF process itself or factors to do with the mother's health and infertility etc. Would love to hear from anyone who has received similar advice or knows more about this topic?

Hi,
have come across this post as I have been told the same thing by my widwife and consultant. I'm currently 22 weeks so still have a while to think about what I want to do, if to take advice and be induced, or stick it out. Did you get any more advice from anywhere? Were you induced in the end? I've read that they don't know if the increased risk of still births is due to the IVF treatment itself of factors relating to the women receiving it - I had IVF as am in same sex relationship, so not a 'typical' of IVF pregnancies I don't think. Thanks for any tips you can give!

Hi flipflop, am surprised at this advice that you've been given. It worries me a bit actually, as I really don't want to be induced (had my DS at 41+1 without induction). Would also love to know what happend to you expuffin, or anyone else in this situation?
