I am just wondering what early pregnancy symptoms you pregnant ladies actually experienced (if any) before your BFP? I know there seems to be an extensive list but a lot of my friends have said it was no AF that was the reason for a test and other symptoms come later? Just wondering as 9 dpo and symptom spotting and wondering if there is any point?!!

Sore boobs, metal taste in my mouth, mood swings, went right off tea and coffee, stomach cramps and spotting.

About a week before AF was due I had a day of extreme dizziness and feeling sick (I thought it was an inner ear infection). It passed but during the following week my boobs felt decidedly 'ripe' (no other word quite covers it). I just felt slightly peculiar and blithely POAS in the loos in Debenhams just to put my mind at rest....and ended up nearly passing out with shock when the result was positive. That would be my top pregnancy tip, btw - do the test at home not in a public loo in a strange town six hours before being due to meet up with your DP/DH. Part of me will be forever walking around Canterbury muttering,'Shit! Oh shit!' and having palpitations.

I had really odd bloating around my abdomen, which I never normally get. Had had four days of light bleeding which I thought were my period, but it never got properly going, and I just felt... odd.

I felt breathless and lightheaded at about 11 DPO. Couldn't cope with the stuffiness on the train. Apparently there is science behind that - the increased progesterone encourages you to breathe deeply in order to get lots of oxygen to the bambino.

At around the same time I had a feeling of "fullness" in my uterus area which was reminscent of pregnancy first time around.

Well I got pregnant aged 17 (I know, I know...) and had no hips AT ALL before it. Within a week I suddenly had hips...

Siamsa · 23/06/2011 19:23

I caught a cold. Sounds strange I know, but I normally have the constitution of an ox - as far as I know, pregnancy suppresses the immune system to a degree.

meltedchocolate · 23/06/2011 19:26

Yes, I also caught the flu. Was stuck in bed for days. Normally not that prone to illness.

I still sometimes think 'Oh my goodness, this/that happened. It happened when I was pregnant with DS, maybe I am pregnant again. Oh wait no sex for two years yeah, maybe not HmmBlush'

Try not to symptom spot. I am sure it could drive a woman insane :)

apricotears · 23/06/2011 22:02

I have to agree with melted chocolate on this one- symptom spotting will literally drive you mad! We had been trying for three months before we conceived, which I know is not very long... but part of me expected it to happen immediately. I drove myself crazy and read too much into absolutely every bodily change that occurred. When my period arrived each month, I was so gutted! By the third month, I was over it and had stopped worrying about it... and BAM! It took me by complete suprise. I know it's easier said than done, but just relax and see what happens. Test when AF is due, and in the meantime just kick back and live life Smile Good luck x

melliebobs · 23/06/2011 22:27

i didn't experience anything. And in previous cycles i was a proper symptom spotter. Did ovulation tests and never got a positive, no sore boobs, no nausea, no tiredness, no dizyness, no metallic taste. And the symtoms i have now (just tiredness and bloated) i swear it's only cos i KNOW i'm pregnant. If i hadn''t had a missed AF and a BFP i'd still be a little dubious

essexmumma · 24/06/2011 10:26

haha yeah i have been far better this month than last month. I must have seemed ridiculous last mont especially when I wasnt even pregnant.

Trying to be relaxed about it all but got a feeling my AF is coming! :(

del1 · 25/06/2011 20:36

With all three of mine, within a week of conceiving, I craved mcdonalds cheese burgers and chicken and mushroom pot noodles Confused

Myself and DP hadn't been getting on for a while, and only had sex once on a rare drunken night out, so When I started wanting these 7 months ago, I knew I didn't even need a pregnancy test!! Shock

I did get the sore boobs, strong sense of smell, lower back ache later on, about the time my period should have been due
