Advice on baby mattress

Hello, it might be a wrong place to post this questions but maybe any of you out there also have had to same question - which mattress to buy. I thought it will be straight forward (compared to buying a pram) but buying a mattress is just as complicated. Which one have you chosen? Sprung, natural filling etc? Any advice or experience is very much appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

I think it depends on whether you have a cot or a cotbed. Cotbeds last longer so I'd go for a sprung one. We have a cot and for dd1 we had an expensive one but she was so light I really don't think the springs were important. This time (second pg) we've bought the second one up in the foam category. The most important thing for me is a removable cover and I had a slightly quilted protection cover from John Lewis too which was great.

I had a foam one from mothercare, cheap and cheerful but has a nylon waterproof cover and was a lot softer than a sprung mattress! I have a memory foam mattress and it's the comfiest thinning I've ever slept on! It only cost 30 quid! Both my daughters have reflux and would regularly spit up so is worth while for a wipe clean.

I just bought one on Amazon for about £40. It's British made, hypoallergenic, washable cover, sprung with foam outer bit. Seems really good for the price. We have a cot, so wasn't so bothered about longevity as such but for £40 as opposed to mothercare's £90 for similar, this seems really good. Had good reviews too.
