Annoyed consultant lied on my notes today

I went for my 22 week check up today with the consultant. My appointment was an hour late and obviously they were busy.

When it came to me, I had my BP checked and urine, Dr asked if everything was ok and that was it - No problem. But when I read through the notes later on I noticed she had written under fetal heart 'FHH Sonicaid'
She did not listen to the heartbeat at all, so why lie and write it in my notes?

Would you be annoyed or am I overreacting?

Mbj - why would the dr need to cover her arse when nice guidelines say do not listen in to the fh. Where I work we get into trouble for listening into the fh. So I can hardly see the benefit of lying about it.

I can definitely get confused in a clinic where I see 10 women one after the other for the same thing. I'll frequently say to someone right now I've given you your matb1 form and she says no. Now I could swear I gave it to her 3 mins ago but then realise it must have been the previous woman.

I should probably have clarified that I do not and have never worked in obstetrics in this country so I'm not familiar with the guidelines on listening to FH (just know that my MW does on my visits Smile)

I must also admit that I cannot think of any particular benefit to lying about such a thing but I find it very difficult to believe that anyone could get confused about findings at examination when writing notes directly after seeing the patient.

However, I will concede that there is a small possibility that it may be a mistake. But then, if it where one, there would still be no harm in reporting it.

I think 'lie' was probably too strong a word. I should have said 'fib' really.
