Can an orgasm really be okay for a foetus?

I know the advice is not to have sex if you have had bleeding during a pregnancy, but surely all that contracting of the uterus after an orgasm (whether through penetrative sex or other) when there is no bleeding can't be good for a small foetus either - it must wonder what the hell is going on if nothing else (eg. placenta being dislodged which is what I was thinking last night!).

I read in a parenting magazine that it was the equivalent of a jacuzzi for baby!

It also helps keep the uterus strong which is good for labour.

Oh...and it keeps mum happy which is good for baby!

It didn't do my dd any harm or me!

I think any effects are positive but I cant concentrate much on enjoying sex when pg anyway .

The best sex I ever had was when I was pregnant...can't wait for next time

Apparently orgasms are meant to increase the oxygen levels passed to the foetus which is highly beneficial plus the relaxed state that it leaves the mother in.

sounds like you had a good night! (sorry - not trying to be too crude).
I always imagined it like a nice firm massage for the baby but it always disturbs me when he wriggles round lots afterwards.
about the bleeding/no sex thing though - I was told no orgasms as well as no sex whenever I started bleeding - no fun at all in fact

Think of the contractions as a cuddle for your baby too sex certainly won't dislodge the placenta - the placenta shouldn't be down there anyway! The uterus is a muscle so it contracts a lot anyway sex or no sex. If the placenta is so low that sex affects it, you will see bleeding and it's no sex from then on (believe me, I know!). I'm sure it doesn't wonder what is going on either. I can't see why it would be more disconcerting than a train ride, a brisk walk or even rolling over in bed.
