A number of my friends have recently become pregnant and I am really really surprised at how they have changed ie Some of my friends are really interested in fashion and would not be seen dead in something that was classed as 'last' season so to speak however since becoming pregnant are not too bothered.
I am hoping to start a family end of this year early next if all goes to plan; being quite fashion concious myself ( although not overly) , I am really intrigued at how pregnant women see themselves and fashion. I know priorities change and expecting a baby puts things into perspective but as an expectant mum is it still important to look good?

Should I expect to ignore my self image and take out the old oversized track suit for 9 months or do people still treat themselves to clothes, treatments etc to look and feel good during this time?

Look forward to hearing what the expectant mummies on Mn think...

zipzap Yes I've bought a couple of things in there - but like you say not worth it unless they're on sale, it's another 'as long as you can take out a mortgage for it' clothing range!

I went in there for a really nice dress to wear to a wedding, and they had one (count 'em - one) maxi dress in a size 6. I asked if they were going to be getting another delivery in before the weekend and they said 'Oh no, we'll be getting our winter stuff in with the next delivery.' It was July.

It still matters to me but is harder to achieve! I'm going for capsule wardrobe this time around...

Look at www.academichic.com for a stylish pregnant woman!

...as for non wire maternity bras, I tried one on once with pg1 and have refused to get into another since. I like my boobs up where they belong!!!

Dear heavens of course it matters! Have you not seen the overweight thread? Be fat, pregnant and dressed badly then, well, you wanna see the looks!

Nows the time to keep it simple and just accessorize to the skies! I loved it and went nuts on cheap bags, ballet pumps, hair flowers, scarfs and everything and wore navy, black, blue and red the whole time!

ASOS, Isabella Oliver, River Island, Dotty P's, Debenhams, H&M, Next, all good places to shop for fashion ideas.
