Saggy Belly :(

I think it's where my skin has overstretched, but the bottom part of my bump is really saggy and flabby :( the top is very hard, obviously where his head is at the mo, but i'm getting very worried about the state of my stomach after i give birth! (especially seeing a poor girl the same age as me on embarassing bodies the other night with the same post-baby-sagginess)

p.s. don't answer back with some a smart answer such as you should be more worried about the health etc. I'm having a bad day and want so consoling that i'm not the only one that's upset about my changing body!

Honestly? I have the same and it's never gone away. Even when I got down to a size 8, it was much reduced but still aprony. I think tbh it's just loose skin and there's very little, bar surgery to chop it all off, that can be done. Depressing but true.

Skin is skin and if there is too much it's generally not something you can do anything about. Is it a second pregnancy?

For most people (and I say most because everyone is different) your body does change after pregnancy, but not always for the worst. For me, I had a little bit of a saggy tummy for about six months after each pregnancy - I had two caesarians so lost a bit of stomach muscle there and had to regain it. But once I did, it all went back to how it was. :)

ditto BooBooGlass Sad

it's your mummy's war paint and most of us have it.

They never tell you about this. It's all 'baby weight here and baby weight there'. I always thought I'd be - like all those people in the public eye - able to lose weight and be like I was.

I was wrong. After DC1 I had this hanging bag which had been under my bump for the final 2 months. I'd had an EMCS and just thought it was because of that. After DC2 I was still left with it - and now pg with DC3. It won't go away. It's taken me 5 years to accept this fact. I can lost weight and it will reduce a little, but it won't go away :(

hmmm. You may be lucky but you may not. A dermatologist told me some skin stretches well and some doesn't. If it's more muscle and tone than skin you can do a bit more about it but... Losing weight does make a small difference although will make the wrinkles worse.
Sorry Sad
It's best to know now, and I remember being really upset when everyone told me it would go back, and I just couldn't see how. It was a real shock.
But... it;s really not the end of the world Smile xx

if it makes you feel better my friends mum just had a tummy tuck at 47 to take her baby tummy away :)

I have this too, I thought it was just where my pre-pg flab went! It is a bit grim, but hopefully I'll just be able to hid it in my clothes and nobody need ever know (except DH and it is 50% his fault too).

rooks14 · 02/06/2011 20:45

:( I guess I already knew this! It's baby no1! Because i'm only 20 I just assumed im spring back into shape straight away, but I have literally hundreds of stretchmarks already!
I'm already fed up of seeing all uni friends flat bellies in bikinis on holiday and i'm 31 weeks and feeling like a whale!

Sure it will all be worth it when he's here, but am having a serious down day seeing my horrible belly in the mirror! Wish I had a lovely neat bump! :(

I was starting to feel a bit bad for hating the bottom saggy bit of my bump, I feel much better now I have seen I'm not alone.
