Is a purple pram unisex?

I'm looking at prams and this is first pregnancy so I've got a bit confused by all the technical details and I'm far more interested in the colour. We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby but I really like the icandy Cherry particularly in the purpley 'mulberry' colour.

Do you think purple is a unisex colour? I might wait until after I give birth to buy it - but is that a bit mad as well?

its a unisex colour IMO

and even if it was bright pink and youloved it i would still buy it

You're being insane to worry about the colour of a pram tbh. Concentrate on whether the pram does what you need it to do. Is it easy to open? Light? Does it have somewhere to stash stuff? Does it fit in your boot? Will it go on the bus?

Those are the sorts of things you need to worry about.

Yes purple is unisex.

You could wait until after the birth, as long as you have a car seat, but do you really want to be traipsing around the shops with a newborn and a sore undercarriage? I'd look for offers now, especially as you know what you want.

Purple sounds fine to me. It's a regal colour; perfect for your prince or princess!

I have that pram and it's fantastic! I did think it was more feminine at 1st, but it's you who pushes it and, I'm assuming, you are female! My friend has a baby boy and has a purple pram, and it doesn't seem to girly at all.
I think they have deliberately made all of their colours unisex. The bright blue is kind of turquoisy and beige and black are definitely unisex.

Ps...the basket is very big, it is lovely and light and easy to steer and fits in the boot of our smallish car.

I've just bought this very pram, I see purple as the boys pink Wink it's a real deep purple to so not a glaring type!

I have not had it put together yet however can't wait to see my little one in it. Got a good deal from John Lewis and 2 years aftercare, worth shopping around for the iCandy as some of the prices seem a little inflated.

The only colour I would struggle to use as unisex is pink

nickelbabe · 26/05/2011 13:24

It's unisex.

(although I would be happy putting a boy in pink)

but it really is unisex.

If you're not 100% the Oyster comes in black and then when you know baby's sex you can pick a colour pack to put on it. The purple is gorgeous! But in all honesty I'd only pick that if we have a girl. It's totally up to you though as I'm guessing you'll be the one pushing it most of the time :)

Boosaphena · 26/05/2011 16:49

I think it's fine... It's the accessories you put with it that will determine the babies sex ie, blue blankets rather then pink-not calling your baby an accessory btw!!

vallinnapod · 26/05/2011 19:18

We've bought a blue/slate colour. We know we are having boy but I wouldn't (won't!) have thought twice about putting a girl in it. Agree that the only really non-unisex ones out there are the very pink models.

Icelollycraving · 26/05/2011 19:58

I hope so! I've bought the stokke in purple for a boy. My mum wasn't impressed though :)

PrincessScrumpy · 26/05/2011 20:20

I think the colour is more like an accessory choice for the mum so I would happily put ds (if I had one) in a purple buggy. I had the beige iCandy Cherry for dd1 (3) as they only did that one or a black and red one. I would have loved the purple one. Loved my iCandy though and was so looking forward to using it again - except I'm expecting twins! I am planning to use the carrycot bit and a sling to start with as I love it so much.

nicolamumof3 · 26/05/2011 21:58

definitely unisex, and agree its the accessories that will boy/girl it up! Navy will go lovely.
