Hi, my first pregnancy I has to have an emergancy csection due to fetal distress and unable to progress/dilate. When my son was born he weighed 10lb14.5oz! Midwifes said his size could of meant he got stuck into a funny position and so couldn't press onto my cervix for it to dilate. I'm so worried that if I choose to have a vbac this time round and it will happen same again.
Is it possible to have a succesful delievery with a big baby? Is there a sizing scan doctors can so to measure baby before I decided what to do?
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated, thankyou.

It's actually bit of a misconception, bigger babies aren't harder to deliver they're far easier than small babies. There are many reasons why it could have happened and the MWs were possibly using his size as an easy answer.

It's unlikely to happen again, they wouldn't bring your baby out early if s/he was big so sizing wouldn't really help and it's not that accurate anyway.

It would probably be a good idea to get a Doula if you can so you have someone with you who can suggest different positions to help things along and get some antenatal classes at the hospital or NCT etc. Look into Optimal Foetal Position (OFP) to make sure you're encouraging the baby into a good position during the pregnancy.
