I just weighed myself and discovered that I am 83kg / 13 stone Shock I am 5'5 and must have put maybe 2 and a half stone on.

I am 37+ weeks.

How much of the weight is baby, water, placenta etc?

Is this a normal amount to put on, or to much?

I'm 20 weeks at the moment and have so far lost about a stone!
I have been getting very very worried, hence why I came on this thread. :/

Elsjas · 22/05/2011 19:54

I put on abt 4 and a half stone with dd1, but it was mainly water retention so six weeks after the birth I was back to only half a stone over my normal weight. With ds, I put on two and a half stone, but with no water retention so it took longer to get back to my normal weight despite having less to lose.

Put on 10kgs, lost 7kgs instantly (3.8kg baby)

I'm 15 weeks and I have put on a stone.....am hoping it slows down a bit over the next few weeks or I shall be mahoosive. Am somewhat relying on it "dropping off" from breast feeding :)

ImBrian · 22/05/2011 22:55

14 weeks and put on 1 lb, eating fairly healthy though. Put 3 stone on with other 3 by eating every thing in sight and I'm not doing that again. Hoping for 2 stone or under this time as I hate dieting.

harrygracejessica · 23/05/2011 10:30

The last pregnancy I put on 3 stone with twins, lost all that in 3 weeks and almost another stone by 5 weeks (they are 5 weeks tomorrow)

COCKadoodledooo · 23/05/2011 10:42

4 stone with ds1 Blush

20lbs with ds2. Which was all gone within 2 weeks of having him. Craving apples and salad sure helped Grin

30 weeks, put on about 3.5kg = 1/2 a stone? - lots of comments on small bump but as long as m/w is happy I'm delighted. But what I've learnt (through vaguely worrying about not having put on enough, despite eating loads - normal healthy diet plus plenty cake, biscuits, chocolate etc) is that 'normal' covers a VERY wide range. I'm sure you'll be fine Prisoner - just make sure you eat plenty and a wide range of nutritious stuff along with the chocolate!

puts the cake down

4pudding · 23/05/2011 11:15

3 stone, am now sitting here with a 10 day old baby having already lost 2 and a half stone!

jenga079 · 23/05/2011 11:19

About a stone and a half so far (30 weeks), but my scales are so rubbish it is hard to tell!

Our NCT teacher covered this over the weekend... the extra weight includes: baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, bigger boobs, increased blood flow, etc, etc, so most of it will go away naturally (please let this be true!!!)

coocoocachoo · 23/05/2011 11:20

Currently 34+6 and have put on 2st 2lbs and currently weighing in at 13st 6lbs from 11st 4Ibs at 5ft 8" (which might give you an idea of build - I wasn't short or slim before) - trying not to get too hung up on it but am conscious there is still quite a bit of time to go.

I'm on mat leave at the end of this week and a hoping that means I'll take the opportunity to get some more exercise as I won't be desk bound - not convinced though - sofa, mumsnet and biscuits beckon!! I'm putting A LOT of faith in breast feeding hoping that the baby will just suck it right back out of me....

PrincessScrumpy · 23/05/2011 11:33

3.5 stone with dd1 (went from 9.5st to 13st). This pg I'm pg with twins and have given dh the scales to hide (I think they're in the loft!) I won't even think about it until babies are 4 months.

PrincessScrumpy · 23/05/2011 11:36

PS. I BF for 8 months and hardly lost any, but then a fortnight after stopping the weight flew off. By the time my mat leave ended, I returned to work half a stone lighter than before getting pg. Soon put it on with cake but life's too short.Grin

OnlyWantsOne · 23/05/2011 17:50

princessscrumpy that gives me some hope!!

davidtennantsmistress · 23/05/2011 18:43

JimmyChoo17 · 23/05/2011 20:48

1.5 stone so far am 32 weeks.trying to watch what I eat now as am told this is the most risky time to use the eating for 2 excuse. I'm 5foot tall and this weight gain has made my bmi very high.....can you ignore bmi during pregnancy if you were within a safe bmi before pregnancy?
