Trouble sleeping :(

22 weeks and can't seem to stop sleeping on my back (which everything I read says is a no-no). I fall asleep on my side but never wake up that way. Have tried using a normal bad pillow but with no joy, considering a dream genii pregnancy support pillow, anyone got one/are they any good? Any other tips gratefully received...

If you are uncomfortable surely you'd shift position in your sleep or wake up? I can't stop doing it either, even though I really have to to stop getting cramps in my legs! I've been told I move about a lot in my sleep!

My trick so far is a sturdy pillow behind me, and a soft one (that tucks slightly under the bump) on the side I want to try to sleep on ...at least that way if/when I roll on to my back I'm not 'flat' on my back. Though that pillow fairly often gets shifted/thrown out of the way during the night anywayGrin

(I'm 19 weeks)

My DH 'spoons' me from behind to try and wedge me on my side which helps. However then when he falls asleep he rolls over. Such a selfish man Wink

A friend is giving me her dream genii pillow next week which I am really keen to try. I have always slept on my back and am really struggling with side sleeping. But at 23weeks it has now got to the stage where if I do roll on to my back I wake up with my heart racing.

I have got a Mum E pillow which is fab. I don't move at all now in my sleep because once I'm cuddled round it on my left side I'm so cosy!

Just thought I would jump in on this thread to say if you are comfortable sleeping on your back then you are safe to do so!!!

I am 32 weeks now with my 2nd DC and I regularly fall asleep on my back or at least spend sometime during the night on my back, I have PGP and this is the only time a get a little relief from it.

My midwife said your body is clever enough to move/wake you should you or baby be resting on something you shouldn't.

If you have a look back through the threads there was one only last week on the same topic, it has some links to research etc.

Go have a good nights sleep in whatever position you can get comfortable in :) xxx
