Is wi-fi harming my baby?

This might sound a bit daft so I'm sorry if it does...

I tend to sit with my laptop on my lap or stomach. It never occurred to me that this could be bad until I downloaded an iPhone 'doppler' type app and it advised me to put it in flight safe mode to avoid harming my child! If a phone isn't safe then what must a laptop be doing? Shock

Anyone out there know? Thanks.

Pfff...if wi-fi isn't safe then we're all DOOMED! We are all sitting in wi-fi networks whether we like it or not. I would expect, as with many things, Apple put that advice on their app to avoid litigation. The only thing I'd say against putting laptop on your tummy is that mine gets awfully hot so wouldn't probably do that in case you hurt your tum.

Hmm, I've been wondering about it lately as I tend to bf DD with both of us laying down and the laptop not far away from her. Not sure that I even want to know if I've been raising her risk of brain tumour or similar Hmm

My mum was wittering on about this shortly after I'd had a miscarriage Hmm. Thanks, great timing Mum. I figured it was some half baked theory she'd read, but she said it's better not to have the laptop directly on your lap, although no risk had actually been proven yet.

Well, what I was trying to say was that it doesn't make a difference if your laptop is on or not. If you have a router in your house with Wi-Fi, or your neighbours do, then we are all sat in wi-fi networks all the time. There are 15 on at any one time in my house and only 1 is ours! We don't even connect wirelessly all that often because of interference.

I'd say, don't worry about it because there is nothing you can do about it unless you live in a lovely detached house away from others and choose to not have a wireless network at all!

Sorry, I'm a bit of a computer geek! ;)

Yes, but Rootatoot- would it make a difference whether you're close to the router or laptop iyswim?

Nothing has ever been proven about wifi waves harming people (grown and unborn). If you worry about this you will send yourself loopy.

I worried about this throughout my pregnancy, but not enough to stop me spending all my time on MN Hmm.
