English speaking obstetricians in the Malaga area

I'm meant to be going on holiday to Costa del sol (about 20 min drive from Malaga) in 4 weeks when I'll be 26 pg with twins. The hospital have confirmed that this will be fine but have recommended that I make sure I can get access to medical care there if I need it.

Can anyone recommend an English speaking obstetrician/hospital in the Malaga area? Or let me know of any experiences they may have had out there?

just got back from a week in marbella (30mins from malaga).... we stayed with spanish friends who have a 13 month old...there is a massive teaching hospital right in the centre of malaga, we drove past it a few times, looks impressive. My spanish friend & me chatted about pregnancy alot (i'm currently 18wks, but not twins!), her health care sounded great all the way through her pregnancy.... made me feel very comforted that if anything went wrong out there, all would be fine. So many spanish people seem to speak very good english, am sure if you took your notes you could visit one of the hospitals if need be and you would most likely find a health care professional who could speak english.
Have pasted in a link that I found listing the public and numerous private hospitals in Andalucia.... might be worth printing and taking with you.....

The very first hospital on the list is, I believe, the massive one we drove past in Malaga.

Enjoy your hols!

Thank you that's great! I'm reasonably sure it should be ok but would just like this for peace of mind.

Im not sure on obstetricians but there are english speaking doctors in the area. The area is really good for english speaking people, and the hospitals are good; my aunt had two sections (one emergency) with no problems.

Not ideal but if your really worried about spanish hospitals Gibralter is only about 90 minutes drive from Malaga (if you're staying west of the city closer) which is all British hospitals, and if you have good insurance you might be covered for a lift. Helicopter ambulances are very common on the costa, my cousins have cover because they have bad allergies.

I'm sure it'll be fine just make sure you have your E111 form (and don't let them try to con you and take you to a private hospital ;) )

My grandmother was in USP Hospital in Marbella for months - they have obstetric care, it's private though. Very nice location right next to the beach, all her doctors spoke english (many were scandinavian) and the food was EXCELLENT.
