Just asked by my midwife to head up to the delivery suite for a presentation scan, to double check the baby wasn't breech. Turns out v deeply engaged head first so all good. However, scanning obstetrician, helping me off the table said "I think you might be going into labour dear," before sending me home. Which is fabulous news as keen to crack on, however now not sure what to do for the best! Keep busy, potter round house, depilate... any ideas? I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable for the past 24 hours but nothing stopping me from getting on.

Wahey!

Stuff the depilation - they'll have seen worse, no matter what you look like. Wink

Keep busy, keep upright (but don't overtire yourself so factor in rests too), eat light meals regularly to keep your strength up.

You MUST come back and keep us informed!

Just do what you want to do. Just don't wear yourself out in case you do go into labour.

tiokiko · 16/05/2011 12:23

Rest as much as you can, eat while you're feeling like it, check your hospital bag is packed.

Get a TENS machine (I am a huge fan although I know others aren't) if you haven't already got one. Work out how it goes on and works, and get it ready to put on at the first sign of any contractions. Mine got me through 3 days of slow labour at home and then up to 8cm before I needed G&A so I loved it.

Good luck!

TheVisitor · 16/05/2011 12:25

Chill, chill and chill some more. Have a snooze as much as you can and eat stuff that you fancy. Best of luck!

bebemooneedsabreak · 16/05/2011 12:28

Read G&A as G&T Wink

Agree- rest but be active at same time...no moving furniture or painting (from personal experience) eat a little, drink lots of fluids. Hoe it all goes quickly for you... :)

tiokiko · 16/05/2011 12:33

Ooh a G&T would have been good, but unfortunately the MW didn't offer that as an option...

buttonmoon78 · 16/05/2011 12:39

Mine said a glass or two of wine at this stage is a good stress-buster!

cowboylover · 16/05/2011 12:51

Do what you can but don't tell many people or you maybe bombarded with calls and texts!

dizzy77 · 16/05/2011 13:10

All good thoughts thank you. I do have a TENS machine so will now put it together in readiness! And agree I read G&T must be psychologically willing it...

Haven't quite told DH in so many words in case this is a 3-dayer but let him know I'd be happier if he were home.

Have that G&T at this stage it ain't going to do bub any harm whatsoever!

dizzy77 · 16/05/2011 16:39

Well, contractions is too grand a word for them but definite waves of discomfort every 8-10 mins. DH is here, have set him on cleaning stuff as don't think he knows what to do with himself. Had a lay down after lunch and now perched on ball. Paranoid waters are going to go dramatically although chances are small, so braved sheep-sized maternity towel just in case.

Exciting! Sounds like you are taking it all in your stride, well done!
