hi
I was just wondering what everyone else's baby movements are like at this stage? Do you feel it a lot or just at certain times of the day? Thanks

Do you have concerns about lack of movement? Or is baby very active?

oinkyoink · 16/05/2011 11:18

Movement has decreased somewhat. I still feel it move but it seems less forceful.

Has the baby changed position from what you can tell - as in turned from back to back to spine at the front?

If you are AT ALL concerned, ring your MW. They won't mind in the slightest.

Hi oinkyoink. I'm 26 weeks and I had a day or two wondering same as you, but I think baby was just in a diff position. My DH said hello to the bump really close and that got him moving again which was reassuring :)

Generally, if I'm busy I don't notice unless he really goes for it with a big kick! I tend to notice last thing at night, in bed before I sleep, or first thing in the morning before I get out of bed.

Usually it is proper kicks but I get the odd funny sensation too which I think might be when baby is squirming about :) And sometimes, sounds weird, I feel the kicks sort of towards my bum so I think it just depends how he is lying.

My friend asked the other day if I had been told to count kicks. I haven't actually seen the mw since week 16 and won't again until week 29, so whether or not she will talk about this I don't know. I think generally they say to just get used to your baby's pattern and if you are worried then get in touch. So agree with Buttonmoon, if you are worried you should ring them, but first try getting him to move with noise or cold drink.

How's it going now oinky?

If you're still thinking they're different or less forceful then call the hospital immediately.

Seriously, it's not worth mucking about with.

If you are At All worried, please go to the hospital.

The baby kicking (and 'punching' -as it were) is what you should be looking out for: specific movements that are very noticable.

Remember - babies (unborn) do sleep a lot, however there should still be specific, noticable movements when they are awake.
They respond to loud sounds, especially music; play some music (fast, pacey beat/loud) and see if (s)he responds.
Talk to your baby and rub and gently push your belly to see if they respond to the gentle prodding.

oh and when I say go to the hospital if you have real concerns, I mean today..Not tomorrow.

I found that arround this time the type of movement changed, it was less jabby and more like something sliding across my insides. I suppose it is becuase the baby has less space to streach out and bounce about. it also developed a much more defined pattern of movement through out the day, mine moved more in the afternoons and evenings (not a morning person, like their mummy!). I'm 35+5 now and recently the pattern changed again as the baby went from being breech to head down. I would say if you are worried then call in, but do expect some changes in the way the movement feels as you go on. I also found it reasuring that at about 27 weeks DH could hear the heart beat if he put his ear on the bump...saved me waking it up all the time to make it move :o

oinkyoink · 16/05/2011 22:24

Hi all thanks for replying. It's ok I think. I'm sure there's been a change in position- still breech but I think something's changed just not sure how or what. Can still feel little jabs here and there just not as pronounced... I see my midwife Thursday so will let her know. Wish we could have scans more easily to really see what's happening in there!!!

Eating! My 27w baby reacts at meal times and if I have something with sugar in :)

oinkyoink · 16/05/2011 22:47

Yes eating does help!
Ps I meant transverse not breech - wonder if baby being transverse means I feel movement differently... Hmm...

Don't wait till Thursday if you feel the baby is moving less forcefully. Get checked asap because we don't know what's going on in there.

Imnotaslimjim · 16/05/2011 23:14

Drink a glass of iced water, see if that livens things up. If not, then just GO don't worry about wasting time etc. They would much prefer you wasted their time and all was ok than the alternative

buttonmoon78 · 17/05/2011 08:02

My 2nd was transverse - no noticable differance in movements. Just go. Even if it's to humour us!
