A towel so you can have a shower?

Sidge · 12/05/2011 12:50

Towels
Pillows (they never have enough)
Bottle of squash
Books and magazines

fiftyfifty · 12/05/2011 13:09

Camera! Also mobile phone, chargers for these, list of phone numbers if not in your phone...

PrincessScrumpy · 12/05/2011 13:15

Hospital had lots of towels when I had dd1 - shocked that some hospitals don't!

When did you look at books/mags? I see them on lists but wasn't really awake enough to read a book - that's why I've put DS

Nappy sacks. I never thought I needed them until I was changing him and realised I needed some way of getting the copious amounts of soggy and meconium covered cotton wool balls to the bin..

MrsGrotBag · 12/05/2011 14:48

vaseline - put on their bums before first poo - makes it much easier to clean

try lily padz instead of breast pads......look on amazon. used them each time for my 3. brilliant things.

fennel tea bags - for the trapped wind

Sidge · 12/05/2011 15:26

I read a lot whilst in hospital, especially when feeding. And when woken by all the other babies!

But then I only had one baby not twins Grin

prolificwillybreeder · 12/05/2011 15:27

Could I ask what the peppermint water is for? Do I need to take some?

starfishmummy · 12/05/2011 15:36

Change for the pay phone. Our local hospital doesnt ban mobile phone use, but its really hard to get a signal. Also they may not allow you to plug it in to recharge.

I had a summer baby and found an Evian water spray very refreshing as it got rather hot.

nannyl · 12/05/2011 15:52

Not given birth yet but of going into hospital id take more than 2 changes of nightware for me

scratch mits unless built into sleep suits

Sidge · 12/05/2011 17:34

prolific peppermint water can be helpful for shifting trapped wind especially after a C-section.

I didn't take much nightwear as I wore my day clothes the next day.

prolificwillybreeder · 12/05/2011 17:56

Ah I see thank you sidge!

apelsinnka · 12/05/2011 17:59

I was recommended to take a small handy mirrow, to be able to see the baby's head coming out. think it could be usefull

apelsinnka · 12/05/2011 17:59

mirror I meant

airhostess · 12/05/2011 19:38

Hi, What kind of bag are you all taking? I've packed a sportsbag and got the baby bag separate. I really want to take a medium size suitcase but I don't want to look like lush!! Reason being as the bag is full and also it will be heavy for the B.F and two separate bags-mine and the baby's!What's the done thing?

PrincessScrumpy · 12/05/2011 20:47

I have a large holdall and then I am taking my Pink Lining change bag which will have the things I will need for the babies initially - so dh can find first clothes etc.

KLou111 · 12/05/2011 20:52

I've just packed a holdall too, and when I get my pram this week, it comes with a changing bag that I'll put a few baby things in that :)

RetroMaggie · 12/05/2011 20:58

I took 3 smaller bags. One for labour, one for baby, one for me post labour. Stops the need to rummage through stuff.

The most important think to have is an open mind.... Regardless of you hopes and birthplan, the safe arrival of mum and baby is the most important thing.

RenniesFromHeaven · 12/05/2011 20:58

Cif wipes for the bathroom.

Hope your brian gets better...
