Pre eclampsia in subsequent pregnancies?

I developed mild pre eclampsia at around 30 weeks which gradually deteriorated resulting in a failed induction and emergency section at 36 weeks. DD is 18 weeks now and my BP is still a little high. I had a letter from my consultant telling me that I would likely suffer with BP issues in any further pregnancies. Has anyone else experienced this? Was the pre eclampsia worse in subsequent pgs? Did it start earlier in the pregnancy? Did you have meds? Did it cause any significant problems for you or baby? Sorry for the million questions but would love another baby in the future but the whole pre eclampsia thing worries me.

I had pre-e at 34 wks with my twins which eventually led to CS at 36wks - they were very small and one ended up in SCBU. I had ongoing problems with BP for quite a while. I was on BP meds for some months after their birth but once my BP settled I haven't had any further problems.

I am now 33 wks pg with DC3 and so far, have had no BP issues (apart from a blip a couple of weeks ago) and no signs of pre-e developing. Basically, no one can tell you whether or not you will develop pre-e in a subsequent pregnancy. You will be very closely monitored though (which is a good thing) and I am much more aware of the symptoms this time round, although the only one I had last time was some swelling. I know that if I had swelling again, I would be straight off to have my bp measured.

I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with dc2 and developed pre-eclampsia in my last pregnancy, dd was induced at 35 weeks and spent 12 days in scbu. I have read lots of different information on pre-eclampsia in subsequent pregnancies, the general idea seems to be that if you have had it before you are at a higher risk of developing it again. My midwife doesn't seem concerned though and said 'well we should at least get you to 37 weeks this time.' Nothing to do but wait and see what happens, i'm goin to be checked by midwife every week towards the end of my pregnancy and will obviously be looking out for any symptoms. Good luck in the future.

Thanks ladies for the reassuring responses. Smile Feel a little better now. And louey you are right I do know what to look for now so would be more aware of it. I am a diabetic too so I do get monitored quite closely anyway so i guess if things were going awry they'd pick it up quite quickly. Am just worrying unnecessarily, we're not even TTC yet!!

I had it in my first but not subsequent pregnancies (I'm 33 weeks with dc4 now).

I had a PROM just as they were starting to talk about inducing me & dd1 was born at 36+ weeks (c-section), we had a week in hospital for phototherapy & feeding issues but she was a great size & didn't have any breathing problems. At its worst BP was 190/125 & although I had massive swelling protein was never more than +1/+2 & bloods weren't too bad either so I don't think it was severe.
