I was just wondering when it is recommended for me to start drinking rasberry leaf tea? I'm currently 30+3 weeks.

Is it not before 37 weeks?

mylovelymonster · 11/05/2011 22:05

Sorry, to be pedantic clear, I mean I think it is advised to take it at or after 37 weeks, & not before.

mylovelymonster · 11/05/2011 22:07

Lovely stuff though, and worked for me - second time round. Didn't try it for first. Think I had no more than 2 cups each day.

nannyl · 11/05/2011 22:10

im sure i read 1 cup a day from 34 weeks, then from 37 weeks more, increasing to up to 4 cups a day by 38 (or 40?) weeks

anyone no where to buy it... none today in morrisons or yesturday in sainsburys!

chinateacup · 11/05/2011 22:16

Health food shops like H&B sell the tablet form, not sure about the infusion...

JBrd · 11/05/2011 22:33

I started drinking it from 32 weeks, slowly increasing the amount. Am now at 40+2 and have 5 cups a day (and starting to get fed up with it...Grin). Holland & Barratt sell it, I've never seen it in the supermarket.

MotherPanda · 12/05/2011 18:22

I found the teabags in holland and barretts - its in the tea section. I think the tablets are much stronger and shouldnt be taken tll 37 weeks, but you can start the tea, one cup a day, from 'late pregrancy'. I've read that 30/32 weeks is ok. Its good to talk to herbalists about it rather than the gps, as i think they generally advice not to do anything, even though the chances of inducing labour are very slim.

I havnt taken any yet, am 30 weeks so putting it off for a couple more weeks, but you need to give it more time than the 37 week start otherwise your uterus doesnt have enough time to tone properly.

I think. This is what the internet did tell me....

JBrd · 12/05/2011 18:28

The tea doesn't induce labour, it's meant to strengthen the uterus.

Neals Yard for the loose leaf infusion

valiumbandwitch · 12/05/2011 18:54

I am relieved to hear that jbrd, as I started drinking it at 36 weeks and had my baby at 37wks. I have occasionally wondered if that was because of the tea.

dizzy77 · 12/05/2011 19:00

Not sure of the rules but I got some from our Tesco Extra - Clipper Organic RL tea. Started drinking a bit late I understand at 38wks but definitely noticing the BHs. Tastes no better or worse than other fruit teas - improved by a teasp of honey.

JimmyChoo17 · 12/05/2011 20:09

Does anyone know exactly how it stregthens the uterus?

MotherPanda · 12/05/2011 20:59

Magic :)

JimmyChoo17 · 12/05/2011 21:17

OOooo can I have some of that bottled so I can use it to ping back into shape after birth? Grin

dizzy77 · 13/05/2011 07:47

Jimmychoo at my NCT class they did suggest you carry on drinking it after to help with just that.

Here's the advice sheet we were directed to.
