I'm 20+5 with my first baby and although had very faint flutterings a few weeks ago (which I could have imagined TBH), I haven't yet feel any movements.

I had my scan last week, and all appeared fine. Looked at my notes and it says that I have an anterior placenta, which I have read means it can take longer to feel any movements.

If you have an anterior placenta, how long did it take you to feel baby moving?

I think I'm worried because everyone now keeps asking me if I feel anything....

I have anterior right placenta and didnt feel anything other than flutterings til about wk 23 then it took a while to build up. By about wk 28 there was definite movement in there and at 35 wks I am now black and blue. So yes, it can take longer - if you are worried, what about grabbing yourself a doppler so you can listen to hb?

It's utterly normal. People with a posterior placenta are told to feel movements some time after 20 weeks, so with an anterior placenta it's normal for it to be nearer 23 or 24 weeks, maybe even later.

I had an anterior placenta with dd and I felt early flutterings while she was low down but then she moved and was hidden behind the placenta. Didn't feel much else until 25 weeks and then she was able to punch me in places that weren't covered.

Please don't worry.

Completely normal. I can feel my twins but looking at them on the scan kicking violently, dh was shocked I could barely feel a thing! With dd1 I started feeling movements about 20w do an anterior placenta would make it later. Also, if it's your first, you might just not recognise the movements as they can be very subtle.

If you're worried, always check with your mw though. Sometimes reassurance helps you to relax. x

I had an anterior with DS and felt movements after 21 weeks. Have a low lying anterior this time and haven't even really felt a flutter yet and I'm almost 21 weeks.

Yes, totally normal! I've got an anterior placenta this time and had a posterior one last time... the difference in the extent to which I feel movement is quite staggering. This time around it was about 23 weeks before I felt anything at all, whereas last time I was getting regular kicking from 17 weeks. So honestly, don't worry...

Thank you, everyone. That is hugely reassuring to hear. I have a midwife appt next week - guess she will hear for heartbeat then which will reassure me and tide me over for the next few weeks...

I started feeling proper movements at 23 weeks so try not to worry :)
