just idle curiosity really... to pass the time while I wait (impatiently >tap< >tap< ) for labour to start.
what was your first sign of labour?
a show or nesting or waters breaking all over the floor in Boots or what?

Sorry for this one but..... I just really felt like I needed a poo! This then went into horrific back ache. Apparently this had something to do with Dd being back to back with me

acnebride · 09/11/2005 20:13

Hindwater leak - more than a few drops but less than a gush

Though approx 3 days beforehand there was a weird few hours when all colours and sounds seemed incredibly intense and beautiful, a bit like being high I guess (too square to know). Wd be interested to see if that happened again.

First time: a contraction (unmistakable). Second time: a show the day before contractions started. Waters didn't break either time (first time they were broken, second time I don't know what happenned to them!!! Don't remember them going and neither does dh).

ThomCat · 09/11/2005 20:25

The empty bottle of castor oil! LOL

Other than that is was a contraction, followed by another and then another and I thought, 'right, this'll be it then', that was at 10pm.
They built up and up and got to the hospital at 2.15am, fully dilated and Lottie was in my arms at 3.57am

My waters never broke, they came out whole, I think.

Wonder what it'll be like this time?

Good luck harpsicord.

JoolsToo · 09/11/2005 20:25

my waters breaking on the way to the bus stop

JessicaandRebeccasmummy · 09/11/2005 20:26

did you still get the bus JT???

PeachyClair · 09/11/2005 20:34

Shows came bit by bit over three weeks, very annoying

Waters didn't break until minutes before delivery

Just my braxtons got closer and stronger

much to DH's dissapontment no nesting

hornbag · 09/11/2005 20:41

With both DS and DD I woke up in the middle of the night and a split second later had an almighty gush as my waters broke. Then spent 36hrs (DD) or 10hrs (DS) leaking lots every time I moved ( not great when you have to walk through the foyer of a busy hospital )

bee3 · 09/11/2005 20:47

No braxton hicks, no show, no waters breaking, no 'clear out'/mad dash to the loo - just dull periody type crampy pains in my lower back/bottom area which I didn't realise were contractions until they started getting stronger and more regular. Even then I had to phone the maternity ward to describe and check, and they said "Get in here fast"! LOL

With ds (my first) I was very restless the day before I went into labour. I was at my mum's and I would walk into one room, sit down, get up, go into another room, sit down, get up, etc...you get the picture!

I didn't realise I was doing this at the time, but my mum did and knew I would be going into labour soon (she didn't tell me this until after ds was born of course)

notasheep · 09/11/2005 21:36

I went into labour every FULL MOON! starting at 28 weeks which was rather frightening then he was 10 days late and induced

donnie · 09/11/2005 21:38

I had a show ( dried looking blood) in the morning and I just felt weird....later on had another show of fresh looking blood plus I had to go to the toilet loads! then the contractions began.....ouch!

Roobedoo · 09/11/2005 21:42

Waters breaking at 3am, hopped to loo (legs crossed) and had unmistakable show.

Miaou · 09/11/2005 22:04

With ds, kept going into labour, then it kept stopping - . On the day I finally went into labour properly, I had a real urge to clean the house, and I just couldn't do everything fast enough! Dh was most amused! That was at 1pm-ish, went into labour at around 10pm that night.

aloha · 09/11/2005 22:07

backache. For a day or two beforehand. Waters never broke. Never got past 2cms (well wasn't examined between 9am and 11am when I had my section, but was in severe agony for nine hours beforehand. Worst experience of my life. Suspect dd had her head jammed against my spine.
(makes me want to cry thinking about it)

aloha · 09/11/2005 22:07

Oh, and had show nearly a week beforehand.

aloha · 09/11/2005 22:08

And I had the f**king flu.

LIZS · 09/11/2005 22:10

ds had a show followed a few hours later by backache and cramps. Had stayed up late the nigth before too, needing to finish a jigsaw. With dd went in to be induced but was already dilating, no real sign of it.

kate100 · 09/11/2005 22:16

DS1- the midwife pulling out my 'show' on her glove after a sweep, nice.

DS2 - being absolutely freezing cold and then having terrible diahorrhea, next day at consultant appointment I was 4 cms with no contractions for another 6 hours.

sweetkitty · 09/11/2005 22:20

waters breaking thought I had wet myself more of a constant trickle than a gush, slight show about 1/2 hour after that, got examined nothing happening, hour after that contractions 5 mins apart, examined 1cm, next examined 10cms and ready to push (wheres my epidural?) start to finish 4h 20 mins!!

Grizzly · 09/11/2005 22:52

Waters broke while pruning clematis, standing on garden bench. Ruined my horrible 'pregnancy' sandals (with velcro fastening)
