Early Pregnancy Scan for First Time Mum to be...

Hi all,

I'm new to this being first time pregnant and very worried about all the information relating to miscarriage and an empty sac... I'm 6 weeks + 5 pregnant and have had hardly any symptoms apart from the sore boobs and slight period like cramping (little nausea but not much at all). I sometimes even forget that I'm pregnant as I feel quite normal.

I've read that early scans are worth doing if you're bleeding or had a previous m/c. However I don't want to go into my 12 week scan and have an empty sac... My first midwife appointment isn't until 27th May (I'll be 9 weeks + 3 then...)

Anyone else been through this and can offer some good advice? I would like the scan for piece of mind but is it silly to do this?

Thanks in advance for your reponses!

Hi,
Just to confirm what other people have said about symptoms. I did alot of reading up when I was around 6-7 weeks and they do vary hugely from woman to woman. They also don't kick in until around 6-7 weeks in alot of cases.

I had an early scan at 8 weeks due to a small bleed and everything was fine (27+1 now)
If you say you are going crazy and can prove you are mentally going mad, the EPU may scan you due to you being stressed out.
Hope you don't worry yourself too much :) x

Oh and I had really bad cramps too in early pregnancy (around 8-9 weeks) and sore nips :)
