Right I suspect the answer to this qu will be a resounding no BUT....

I am 5 months pregnant and leaking ALOT, I dont mean a dribble, I mean 3 t shirts a night soaked through at the front, 6 or so pads a day, it streaming down my tummy when I stand up in the morning and actually squirting out with force when I'm in the shower. Funnily enough this is becoming a little tiresome, sometimes its clear collustrum sometimes its thick and white therefore I guess milk...SO can I use my breast pump that arrived today so I won't spend the next four months damp and depressed?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The answer is no as it can apparently cause contractions. But hey at least you know you'll have enough milk for the baby!

May I suggest you buy some fleece pads though - they soak up about ten times as much as breast pads - I was a major leaker with DD (cleared up before DS arrived though so there is hope).

whomovedmychocolate · 07/05/2011 16:59

Sorry I meant to say you will have to MAKE fleece pads - I bought fleece nappy liners on ebay, folded them in half and used them as breastpads and they worked really, really well.

SuperheroYuki · 07/05/2011 17:12

But I'm so soggy... sniffle my problem is at night really, I cant stand to wear a bra, I object to wearing a t shirt really, but nothing to stick pads to without one??

What about those Lilypadz breast pads? They're silicone and stick to you not the bra I think - they work by pushing on the nipple and preventing bloodflow. I say this but have never used them myself Grin

Worth a look though maybe? Here

Hope it helps.

nicklenackle · 07/05/2011 17:21

Cannot believe I wrote bloodflow instead of milkflow - that wouldn't be good!

SuperheroYuki · 07/05/2011 17:37

Pads that prevent bloodflow from the boobs..for vampire mummys! Thanks for the link I'll have a gander now!

Pumping won't work, in fact it will just make your body produce more milk as it will think there's a need for it. X

LoveBeingAbleToNamechange · 07/05/2011 18:43

Agree pumping is not the answer. A maternity bra with pads would really make a difference. I've never been one for them at night but when pg it has really made a difference, and really had no choice when bf.

4pudding · 07/05/2011 18:50

Try googling "night maternity bra" - lots of options which should be more comfy than normal ones. I found Lansinoh pads the best as they were much thinner but still really absorbent.

rasta · 07/05/2011 19:39

I leaked loads while I was getting breastfeeding established both times, and like you hated the thought of wearing a bra at night time, but like 4pudding suggested, night time bra were the answer! This style I found were very comfy.

Don't pump other wise your body will just produce more milk as it'll think you're feeding your baby.
