Due date in May, June -11? Appeal to mothers, London, Baby observations

My name is Mikael, I am a Student Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. As part of my training it is essential for me to undertake mother and baby observations to provide me with a deeper understanding of the development of a new born baby, starting from as early after they are born as is possible. The aim is to understand their early journey through life, their coming to be in the world, their relationship to their mother and to the world.

I am seeking:

? soon-to-be mother?s with a due date in May or June, 2011 or a
? mother with a new born baby, around 2-3 weeks of age or younger
(first or second or third child and so on, does not matter)

Fathers are also more then welcomed. I am primarily seeking participants in London.

I currently work with children in need and have done so for around fours years here in London and also for some years back home in my native Sweden, supporting children and their families.

If you agree, I would observe your baby's interactions with you and the world, and the process of development once a week, for an hour, at your convenience, in your home. The observations are non-intruding and non-judgmental - simply observing your baby and noticing the subtle changes in how your baby is developing, growing and relating to the world around them.

Witnessing your baby's development and interactions will enable me to understand better the journey all of us take through the first year of life and the fundamentals of personality and behavior as starting in very early life. Ultimately, it would help me become a fully qualified child therapist. Your agreeing to the observation process would also enable me in my present work with children in need and to further help troubled children and adolescents. You will also yourself hopefully feel empowered in your parenting by your participation.

I am also happy to meet you up to 5 times before birth, to work on maybe anxiety around the birth, thoughts or worries around becoming a mother or other aspects you feel would be good, that may impact on your well-being and mood

If that sounds still like something you could think about participating in, I can provide you with a letter of reference from my training institution and other relevant documentations. We can also then meet in person to discuss it further, before you make any commitment. Let me know what you think, any questions you have via email or phone.

Kindly

You may want to mention which Uni you are a student at, the name of your dissertation/thesis supervisor and confirm you have Research Ethics Committee approval for this trial and are CRB checked. Sorry I can't help as I am in a different country, but just thinking that these are the first questions I would ask you if I were in your area.

...and which area of London you are in...its a big old place!

Thanks for the replay

All details e.g CRB, contact to supervisor and uni, and other documentations and my own full details and background will ofc be provided to anyone that might be interested. Its just that it is alot of information and details to add in a post here, which is already rather long.

It is impossible to add every detail in the post, so anyone having any questions or wanting more details about anything are more then welcome to email me and I will provide these directly.

With regards to what area in London that is relevant its West, Central or North London. I guess most of London except south of the river.

Cheers
Mikael

Im being a bit cheeky and bumping this :)

If anyone wants more info just email me. This is an ongoing placement method, its been going on for around 10 years and now I think, and the main impressions reported from participant mothers has been that it is an empowering, warm and positive experience for them.

Cheers
Mikael
