I NEVER get headaches and last night I woke up with one and could not get back to sleep - just got up this morning and I am feeling dreadful = have taken some paracetamol -is this normal?

See your doc/MW to be on the safe side.

Are you being sick a lot? so could you be dehydrated? that gave me awful headaches

LDNlady · 28/04/2011 07:45

Drink drink drink drink drink! Have lots of water, keep your fluids well up. You get dehydrated quicker and easier when pregnant. It happened to me when I thought I was already keeping my fluids up so just had to drink more. It is an unfortunate side effect to pregnancy.

Yes, this is absolutely normal; but if it persists then I would phone NHS Direct just in case.

I've posted on several threads like this over the years. For me, 15 weeks was excruciating headache time. Don't know why, but it passed very quickly.

But yes, do see GP if it persists.

MummyElk · 28/04/2011 08:19

Yep me too. Drink lots to ensure it's not dehydration. Sympathies

I normally drink 2-2.5 litres of water a day - now I'm pregnant I'm having to drink even more to stop the headaches. Had some excruciating ones at 15 weeks as well - now 18 and havent had any for a week or so.

I also had bad headaches around 15 weeks, and a friend of mine I know who is also pregnant had the same. I find if I catch it when its coming on with 4Head or similar then that usually helps take the edge off. Except when I wake up with them they seems to stick around all day, even if I take paracetamol. I am 18 weeks now and do feel much better so fingers crossed you will feel better soon too :)

Thanks ladies - It has lingered ALL day - I am a teacher and it's grim when you are teaching and not feeling on top form!! I teach at a residential school for boys with behavioural problems - I have been letting them know this week that I am expecting so they are a flutter with the 'gos'!! Asking lots of questions and being very thoughtful - great to see them all taking a positive interest!! "Is that why you were crying all the time last term Miss??" ... "YES!!"

Another 15/16 week headache sufferer here. Agree with the others, lots of water. and eat little and often too, blood sugar dips can cause headaches too
