Tweeni, sweetheart, have you been to the gp yet?

because all the questions you are asking us will be explained for you much better by the midwife or doctor.

there are no medical proffesionals on mumsnet, just a gang of normal mums, and we don't know the answers to everything.

You will feel a lot more secure once you have seen your miswife.

Tweenie you really are reading to far into the future!!!!

I had a 3d&4d scan at 28 weeks and dd is fine! BUT its your decision and YOU now have to decided what right or wrong for your unborn baby like you will be doing for the next 16 years or so! Scans have come under alot of bad press as it's been said that any type of scan can have an affect on the baby. Due to medical reasons I had x10 scans and all is ok with dd.

Like someone has posted before. You now have more to think about than a 4d scan.

Have you had a booking in appoinment etc.?

He will work out how far gone you are, give you info to take away and read and send your details to the hospital so you can be booked in for a scan (usually done at 12 weeks but later in some areas).
He may also check all is ok with you and that you don't have any concerns or problems. May also take a note your weight. Nothing to stressful!

colditz · 04/11/2005 23:32

he will ask you how you feel about the pregnancy, and if you want to keep the baby. He will probably feel your stomach to see if he can tell how far you are. He may take your blood pressure and a blood test, but he may rfer you to a midwife's team to do that.

Aft6er that you will either have antenatal appointmants with your doctor, or with the midwives, who can answer all your questions about pregnancy.

Early pregnancy is a very overwhelming time, particularly if you have stress in your life anyway, or if people important to you don't feel the same way about the pregnancy as you do.

But, first things first, get your medical care sorted out, and really don't worry about things like 4-D scans at this stage. The chances are you might not even be offered one, it depends on where you live sometimes I think.

I agree with colditz, also about the 4d scan, I don;t think this is usually offered on the NHS. Ours we had to pay £190 for !!! Wel worth it though.

Tweenie, you need to get yourself and your baby sorted first though. Let us know how you get on at your gp's on monday
