can the baby get too hot or too cold if you wear too many or too less clothes.

misdee · 04/11/2005 20:55

no. your body has a 'core' temp, and generally things inside stay at that temp.

but dont go roasting yourself in sauna, you may feel ill

doormat · 04/11/2005 20:56

yes tweeni
if baby feels warm take a layer or two off
if baby feels too cool add a layer or two

Zephyrcat · 04/11/2005 20:57

You still have to be careful though - I don't think clothesa will affect it but you shouldn't have really hot baths, for example, which will raise your temp and therefore make it hotter in there for baby

doormat · 04/11/2005 20:57

sorry thought when baby was born
i am so thick

Posey · 04/11/2005 20:57

Agree with Misdee. Funnily enough when pregnant with dd I loved hot baths, but with ds wanted them a lot cooler. Now the temperatures they like their baths reflects this!

madmarchflare · 04/11/2005 20:57

lol

starlover · 04/11/2005 20:58

i never even knew the thing about baths until i was looking for things to set labour off! had nice hot baths all the way through
and he was a week late as well! grr

tweeni · 04/11/2005 21:06

is it ok to have a bath as long as it isnt too warm?is it the same for showers?

OP posts:
shhhh · 04/11/2005 22:47

Twennie I think the issue about hot baths is related to the possiblity it could induce labour..??? I think that the temp most people have a bath or shower at isn't to much of a risk..??? TBH I couldn't stand to hot showers or baths while expecting as it made me uncomfortable. HTH.

Tweeni - I notice that you have posted about 10 questions on pregnancy on mumsnet in the last few days. I am concerned that you have not yet been to the doctors or got any medical care or advice and yet you are 17 and think you are more than 3 months pregnant. You really must do this soon

Mums net is not a substitute for medical care for you and your baby.

You also need to get some help to think through the issues you have about your baby?s father, your school and your parents. To honest, you have bigger problems to worry about than hair dye or maternity fashion

QueenVictoria · 04/11/2005 23:13

Sorry PMSL at doormat!

tweeni · 04/11/2005 23:23

tweeni · 05/11/2005 10:31

my mum was allergic to epidural and fitted and i was wondering if this can be a hereditary problem. also is there anyway they can check for this like in a blood test?

Blandmum · 05/11/2005 10:34

For information like that you should see a doctor. The reasons you mother had a fit can vary. You will need to discus this with a medic who has access to your medical recors.

We are all nice people, but nne of us can give you that information. You need to know exactly why this happened to you mum and talk about it with your GP
