Im at work & was gripped by terrible cramping,my tummy feels hard & enormous. Was in tears as pain took my breath away. One of my team ran to get first aider who suggested if pain hadn't eased off in half hour to call an ambulance. The pain has subsided but my bump is still feeling so tight the skin feels sore. She said bracton hicks come & go without a lot of pain. I'm now resting in my office with my feet up. So is this braxton hicks?

Have you called anyone - your MW, labour ware, day care assessment unit? If you're worried or concerned at all, its always a good idea to talk to those that know and/or get checked out.

It could be braxton hicks. For many women they're painless, but for others they can cause varying levels of discomfort. I was always told that with BH, any pain should be alleviated by changing position.

Fingers crossed you feel a bit more relaxed soon :)

I don't want to worry you but I had a massive pain which felt like a really whopping contraction which then left me feeling a bit tender, I had had an abruption, I had an emcs immediatly. Are you bleeding or having and discharge ?

If I were you I'd go and get checked out. It's probably nothing but better to be safe than sorry and all that :)

On my way to hospital to get checked out. Rather be safe than sorry

Good Luck, hope everything is ok xx

Home. Was bad case of braxton hicks they think although should come & go rather than stay for the length of time it did. They did v thorough tests & I'm ok :) they did say it was v early (30 weeks) for such strong pains but may be because im having a big baby.

Glad to hear everything's OK - and relived you got checked :). Fingers crossed things stay a bit calmer for the rest of your pregnancy.

If its any consolation/reassurance, DD1 was 9lb 12 - the birth was fine and the good thing about big babies is that they have bigger mouths, which can make it easier to get BF going (they've got a big enough mouth to latch on easily from the start) and, for us at least, we were never worried if she had a couple of days off food for whatever reason - she had plenty of chub to fall back on in the first year or so. Sorry - slight diversion Blush

Take care of yourself :)

I had BH from about 29 weeks I think it was. There were painful, were worse if I was walking or standing too long, and stopped me in my tracks. I found just to stop and sit down if possible, and breathe deeply and slowly. (It's good practice!)

My DD came on her due date and weighed 6lb 14oz so not big. I think they're just something that some women get and some don't. I actually had them far more at around 7 months than at the end so hoepfully yours will get better too. [csmile]

Really glad you went and that it's all ok! I hope I didn't make you panic too much xx
