apologies all round but I am really suffering from piles! Anyone else out there the same? What are you using to sooth them. Is it worth going to the doctors?
Im a bit concerned as its not in the place I would expect piles its inbetween the two holes (if you catch my drift) I havnt been tempted to use a mirror bit scared really about what horror it will be!
I would really like this to go away before the baby decides it time to pop out, Im 36 weeks at the moment, I dont mind the midwife being down there but would like to be pile free when she does!
Im just having the worst week of pregnancy, chronic back ache, fibroid pain, braxton hicks every ten minutes and now piles!

please tell me im not alone!

Hello, I have them too but just out of my bum, I got cream ages ago which I put on them but I don't think it's working! I think it's the weight of the baby is making them 'crown'.

It is horrible and I'm going to get a drs appt about it as I'm only 25+4 so I have a while to go!

I've got them too Blush, they started in my first pregnancy when I was a bit constipated and now in second pregnancy they're back even though I'm not constipated. They don't really give me much trouble although I would be much happier if my arse would go back to normal, but what I'm worried about is that presumably giving birth is going to make them a lot worse? Anyone BTDT?

I have them too. I was reading up on it and they're fairly normal during pregnancy (even if you're not constipated) because of the pressure the baby puts on everything, especially during the last few weeks (I'm 36 weeks too).

Personally I have been putting vaseline on it after I go to the bathroom or whenever it feels uncomfortable.

Oh and they clear up by themselves after giving birth (according to Wikipedia)

Have mildly had them with dd1 and dd2, disappeared fairly quickly. With dd3 they seemed to be quite severe and really sore especially at around 36 weekish. Tried Anusol (had previously worked), didn't work this time, pharmacist recommended Germoloids, worked better but still wasn't happy. Rang GP, told them I wanted a stronger cream, labour is painful enough, and the last few weeks of pregnancy are uncomfortable enough without bloody piles Grin They prescribed a cream, worked a treat, piles not away yet (dd3 - 9 weeks old) but absolutely no pain. Good luck.

I ended up going to the GP with acute pain from a thrombosed external pile- in both pregnancies! In the first I actually ended up in a&e because of the pain.

I have Lactulose and Movicol to keep constipation at bay, and an ointment on prescription with hydrocortisone and local anaesthetic for applying. When the pain was really bad I had codeine to get through it, but it constipates you so best kept to a minimum.

GPs and midwives have seen it all before, so I wouldn't worry!
