Am 20weeks with DC3 and was doing fine until last week I broke my right toe and, instead of putting my feet up, have spent a week hopping round after the kids and at work... and all of a sudden, last 3 days, I have agonizing pain in my left buttock - which I have reliably self diagnosed as sacro-iliac pelvic girdle pain (had it a little bit late stages of PG2 and am hypermobile so writing is on the wall really).. Too little too late I have now stopped racing round and started doing all the sensible things I should have been doing last week but I'm terrified that I will now have to spend 20 weeks virtually immobile or in agony. Feeling quite depressed about it... Anyone had a flare of this and then managed to get it to go away? Or any top early treatment intervention/tips you can give me - I have had this for 3 days only and thats enough - really really hope to nip in the bud if at all possible!?!

Ouch. Sounds awful Sad

Osteopath. It's the only thing that ever works for me.

I second the osteopath. I've had sacroiliac pain since 14 weeks (now 20), and with a a handful of appointments and performing the daily exercises advised by the osteopath, things have definitely improved.

I still get the occasional twinge, but only if I overdo it.

I had sacroiliac pain with DD1, painful, limping for 3 weeks. Saw a physio but it actually just got better (with me doing the right stuff, not putting all weight on one side, careful turning in bed/in and out of car, etc) and physio said that it can be linked to hormone levels which do fluctuate during course of pregnancy. So yes, mine did get better almost by itself and didn't recur for the rest of the pregnancy.

I hope your's is the same but if not, definitely start being careful about how you move and what you do to improve the situation as much as possible. See a physio if you can too.

I'm on #4. Had horrid spd (mainly in sacro iliac) with #3. Had a nasty flare up at about 18 weeks and began using serola belt and recently started with crutches again, but more as a preventative than as treatment. Also been doing all the stuff I should have been from the beginning.

Am now 26 weeks and am soooo much better than last time. Be good, take care and it can be better than last time!

I have ordered a serola belt and will get onto a physio pronto... thanks so much for your tales1!

Make sure your pelvis is perfectly aligned prior to using it or it can make things worse.

Despite having hypermobile induced scoliosis, my pelvis is fine so I get a lot of help from it!

I'd also recommend an Osteopath. I locked my SI joint when expecting and got a referral from the doc. It got so bad at one point that when I knelt down to help DD with her shoes I couldn't get back up and had to be lifted to my feet by DH.

Osteo was able to treat it to relieve the discomfort during the pregnancy but only now my ligaments etc. have returned to normal post-hPG has she been able to fix it permanently.
