Anybody else found out the sex of their baby?

I had my 20 week scan a few days ago and found out I am having a baby girl. I am delighted as I already have a gorgeous son. The only trouble is my partner didn't want to know the sex so he left the room and I know have to keep it a surprise but I am so happy I want to shout it from the rooftops! Due in September. Anybody else found out what they are having?

Like Butterflysally we kind of hoped for a girl so asked at 12 week scan and she said boy, we have both got used to the idea and think I would feel a bit sad now if they changed their mind at 20 week. Ours is baby bear too at the mo as DH is hairy bear.

Bishbosch would it not have been worth £80 if it had been a girl? Hmm

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 24/04/2011 10:08

goodegg, I don't think that bishboschone meant that the gender was worth the money but the confirmation of what was actually in there.

bishboschone · 24/04/2011 16:32

exactly turtles.....wouldn't of mattered either way but I wanted to know. I could afford it and am happy I know. I merely glad we found out as I would have found it confusing expecting a girl and getting a boy.

goodegg · 24/04/2011 16:59

Ok, misunderstood. You said 'I needed to know...' followed by 'we are actually having a boy so it was worth the £80' and I made some assumptions which were wrong. There are many, many mothers in east London who will abort if told they are expecting a girl, it's a concern that prevents some hospitals telling parents the gender. Shocking for modern UK society but true, unfortunately.

oh god no...I am of no religion and it was just a selfish need on my behalf.

With my first child they said they were 98% positive it was a girl-they were right.

With my second they could not tell as it was in the wrong position. They got me to go for a walk as was in the wrong position to do all the checks. Baby moved but turned back on us and crossed legs. Had to have another scan at 30 weeks and baby had hands between legs! Obviously had no intention of letting us know. We had another beautiful daughter

I have 2 friends as well and neither of them could find out the sex as babies were in the wrong position lol

candr :o hairy bear like that one, DP is big bear, the kids are brother bears apparently so DS says.

looking forward to a confirmation scan at 28 weeks for the growth/gender & so the mums can have a peak as to what we're having.
