.....anyone know what dreadful things this can do to an unborn foetus. I think I need to be scared into stopping. When it gets to 7pm and dd in bed I can't help it I'm drawn to the Merlot....

I can't get to the bottom of what the risks are. Not an alcoholic so don't think FAS is a risk but am I wrong.

8wks preggers.

I had non alcoholic sparkling wine and bass shandy ( the shandy is found in the soft drinks aisle and is available to children).
I spent ages looking in the beer section for it

you can buy alcohol free wine as well - doesn't taste too bad and a change from softdrink/fruit juice sometimes.

ooh no not at 8 weeks!

Stick to a couple of small glasses a couple of times a week after that.

Have a look at the Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Aware UK site and this as well

Good luck!

There is a wine, can't remember the name now, that has about 2 units in the whole bottle. There is a peach and a summer fruits flavour. ASDA and Sainsbury's do it, sometimes Tesco. It is lovely, and is the only thing I drank whilst pg. I think one glass is less than half a unit, but it tastes nice It was usually with the sparkling wines or the alcohol free wines. HTH

now I've just looked at that fetal alcohol site I am not drinking anything at all ever

Agree about the alcohol free Becks - some pubs/bars stock it and it is almost as good as the real thing! Sainsbury's make an alcohol free cider too which I liked when I was pregnant, even though I don't normally drink cider.
