Posterior baby...??

Just had my 38+3 wk MW appointment today and she thinks that my baby is not completely back to back but almost, told me to do some forward lunges on the birth ball, to get baby into an anterior positon. She said that if I go into labour whilst baby is in this position, it will make things very difficult for me! Great!

....She is already almost fully engaged, so what chance do I have of shifting her position at this late stage and does anyone have any experience of labour starting with baby in a posterior position, and it turning out ok?

Up til recently she was breech, feeling like it's just one thing after another- I have already looked at The Spinning Baby website, but nearly all their exercise techniques are for during labour only..

Wished the MW hadn't bothered telling me as I feel there is not much I can do to at this stage to guarantee a move to a more optimal postion.

Any advice most appreciated...Smile

You could consider seeing a chiropractor to see if your pelvis is twisted (which can effect position)
From the spinning babies I would suggest you get a friend to try the rebozo technique on you (A large cotton/woool ish shawl/throw can be used)
See-

and spinningbabies.com/techniques/in-pregnancy/daily-activities And then do a forward leaning inversion for a couple of minutes. Then bely dancing and lots of vigerous circles on the birth ball! Selina

I was told to spend as much time crawling on all fours as possible. If you practice yoga, then do cat and cow pose as much as possible; you can also do downward dog, but don't do inversions (headstand, should stand); swivle your hips whilst on hands and knees; lean forward whenever sitting / knees should always be below hips; swim only forward crawl (swim breaststroke after the baby turns as it promotes the head engagement); sleep only on your side (preferably, left -- yes, i know it hurts after a while Sad)... good luck!

I'm 37 weeks and am in the same position. As well as the all 4s stuff, my midwife recommends always sleeping on the left hand side and walking up and downstairs sideways!

Thank's guys! Trying not to get hung up on it too much as baby could come any day now. Spent so much time on all fours recently, worrying and stressing when she was breech.....Just gonna do my best and what will be, will be!

If she doesn't turn in time, there is always drugs! Smile
