Hi, I think I'm probably being silly but I wonder if anyone can let me know what you think of this situation...
I had a feeling I was pregnant (I had really achy boobs and just a kind of feeling) so I did a pregnancy test on the day my period was due and got a really faint line so I left it a couple of days and did another one which had a much stronger line. I went to the doctor on the afternoon of that day and they did another pregnancy text which was negative (I had drunk a lot of water and my wee was almost completely clear - don't know if this could have affected it?) Anyway the doctor told me to come back in a week if I still don't have my period. I have to go again tomorrow and since the last visit have done another 2 pregnancy tests both which are positive also have no period, really sore boobs, and a few other symptoms. However, I am such a worrier and am so nervous about going to the doctor tomorrow. Can anyone set my mind at rest? Do you think I'm pregnant?
Thanks xx

Are you normally regular, zambooloo? It sounds to me like you are pregnant ... I so hope so if that is what you want!

lolajane2009 · 19/04/2011 17:07

i'd say you are tbh.

vickylou2004 · 19/04/2011 17:07

Definately!

TurtlesAreRetroRight · 19/04/2011 17:09

You're pregnant. Congratulations.

Early on dilute wee can often show a false negative.

The positive tests don't lie. You're producing hcg, you're having a baby. Grin

Definitely (not definately) - hoorah!

False negatives are very very common in the early days.

scaryfairy28 · 19/04/2011 17:10

Four tests cant be wrong!!

Pesha · 19/04/2011 17:13

The chances of getting a false negative are much higher than the chances of getting a false positive, I would imagine the chances of getting 4 false positives are virtually non-existant!

FWIW I have never had a pg from the dr, once I have had a positive test at home the dr/mws have just taken my word for it.

So yes, I would say you are definitely pregnant!

Thank you everyone, stillstanding: yes always regular. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. Looking forward to chatting with everyone on here!

Often the tests doctors do are a) a lot less sensitive and b) many of them don't realise that a faint line is a line and expect to see a big thick dark one. Goodness only knows why they can't read the instructions like we can.

Yep, diluted wee could well mean your doctor did both a) and b). So long as your tests at home are coming up positive then you are pregnant - congratulations!!

rightontime · 20/04/2011 11:56

Congratulations. Most doctors just take your word for it and don't repeat tests as home pg tests are so good these days they don't need do another one.

Bogeyface · 20/04/2011 12:00

Yep, you are definetely duffed up, congratulations!

Every single time I have been pg I have had strong ++ tests at home and a negative at the docs. It annoys me because although the doc admitted that they dont use such sensitive tests as you can buy in the shops, he still insisted on doing their own test and then telling me to come back when it was neg, despite me already having ms by then!

zambooloo · 21/04/2011 12:01

Just to let you all know I am pregnant as you all told me! The doctor I saw this time didn't bother to do another test either! Due date is 19th December!! Yay!
