20 weeks and carrying very low - does this matter?

I'm 20 weeks pg and the not-so-little bean is STILL rattling around in my pelvis. When it kicks (which it does a lot) I feel it only a few inches above my pubic bone. The ultrasound technician suggested I might have a retroverted uterus as it doesn't seem to have moved much higher since I conceived.

All of this means I get a lot of belly-ache (I don't think the muscles down there stretch as well as the ones higher up) and every few days am in extra discomfort as the baby seems to lie with its head poking out and its feet on my spine. There's not enough room - why doesn't it move up?!

Just wanted to know if anyone else has carried very low, whether it could last throughout my whole pregnancy, and whether it could introduce any complications? I already - sorry, TMI - haven't had a normal bowel movement since the beginning of the year, largely because I think the baby's trampling my bowel like a wine press...

You need to get checked by a consultant. If you have a low lying placenta (depending on how it sits), they might have to monitor you via scans frequently, and if does it go up, they might suggest a c-section. I don't want to scare you, but I do think you should insist on seeing a consultant (you'll have to show him scans). Good luck!

I'm expecting my second and also appear to be carrying very low. Had scan last week at 22 weeks - radiologist thinks it could be because I'm tired out (so having contractions which I can't feel but which push the baby downwards) I've had strict instructions not to carry DS, and to rest up (hahaha!) but that's all. I also feel that there's not much room and that the baby's about to fall out!

If your scan was ok, I wouldn't worry, they would have checked your placenta then and said something if there was anything sinister. I'm sure it's OK.
