The other thread regarding MCs made me realise we often focus on the negatives as it has bene pointed out on that thread 3 of 4 pregnancys don't end in MC...

I'm currently 7 weeks and suffering hardly any symptoms - we were also extraordinarily lucky and concieved on our first attempt (something DH is constantly patting himself on the back for).

Does anyone have any positive stories to tell to help me believe it can be that simple and help me worry less that is was 'too easy and therefore something must go wrong'?

What a nice idea for a thread, I know what you mean about it being easy to focus on the negatives because the thought of such things happening is so devastating.
So...I'm 31 and we fell pregnant on our second month of trying! I'm 12 weeks 3 days now, have had no sickness or nausea, only really had sore boobs (nothing major though) and tiredness (again, manageable). We had our first scan on Tuesday and saw a beautiful, jumpy, boundy little baby. The sonographer was very happy with the results so we're very excited about the 20 week one now. :-)
Congrats on your pregnancy and focus on the fact that the vast majority of babies are grown and born healthily :-)

What a good thread, I've been treading the line between being informed and not scaring myself for weeks, but it can be difficult.

Anyway I had my first scan at 13 weeks yesterday, everything looked good and when they took my bloods it didn't hurt! So that's my nugget of good news.

Cattleprod · 15/04/2011 12:21

I've had an enormous amount of bleeding this pregnancy, but I had my 12 week scan yesterday and everything looks ok. Plus the haemmorage that was causing the bleeding seems to have disappeared. Grin

And they managed to get some blood from my arm - normally they scrabble around and I end up like a pincushion with holes in both arms and both hands!

natwebb79 · 15/04/2011 12:23

Oh - seconds after posting I got a letter from the hospital (2 days after blood test!) saying that our risk of down syndrome is very low at 1 in 7806. Again, the further through the process I go the less I'm worrying and the more I'm enjoying the pregnancy. I was close to neurotic up to about 8 weeks! :-)

natwebb79 · 15/04/2011 12:23

Oh - and congrats to grottie and cattleprod! :-)

Thank you all! So good to hear some 'normal' pregancies and so pleased you have had good news at the scans.

I have no reason to worry really, I've had no cramping and no bleeding but I think reading so much online and in the mumsnet book means you realise there is a lot you could worry about.

I know what you mean - the more I read the more convinced I was that miscarriage was inevitable! Once I got to 8 weeks I realxed a little because my relentless Googling said something about the risk reducing after that. Then I think I just got naturally fed up with being negative and surrounded myself with friends who had had successful pregnancies and not even read up on the risks. That really helped.

Ernie1 · 15/04/2011 12:31

I feel the same natwebb - I actually said to DH the other night that I might stop coming on the boards here until after our scan (clearly I haven't been able to do that!)

Ernie1 - my OH nearly banned me from using the internet at one point! Haha! He was sick of morbid statistics :-)

So lovely to hear and read some positive stories.

After a pretty shitty time, 2mcs, pcos dx, no ovulation for a year, referral for fertility treatment. I am pregnant. 15+5 :) That is good news in itself. We found out a week before my appointment date :)

I am suffering HG and still can't say the sentence "I am having a baby" but I am slowly becoming more positive as the days go by, every time I hear its' heartbeat.

vj32 · 15/04/2011 15:30

I haven't felt too good the last few days but the baby has been making himself felt just as much as usual, if not more as I have been sitting around more. He clearly thinks I am a lazy mummy! Nice to know that however rubbish I am feeling, he is fine as it makes it all worth it.

Love this thread.was so glad to get past week 12 with all the mc worries and morning sickness. After all these stillbirth threads yesterday had an evil nightmare last night waking up sweating and crying.
Fact is:feeling great, baby kicking like he'll be joining Olympic swimming team and 20 week scan next week.
Yay for good news!
