I am only 7 weeks. Been up all night vomiting. Cant keep anything down, have not eaten since breakfast yesterday and feeling soooo weak.

Am worried that my body cant handle all this. On top of it I have a sick toddler and an unhelpful husband who offered no sympathy and just rushed out the door for work.

advice to settle my stomach? tell me the baby is ok?

Try not to worry, keep sipping water (fluids are more important than food), i'm sure baby will be fine, as for your dh, when he comes down with it make sure you offer no sympathy Grin, if your still struggling to keep fluids in by the end of the day then phone your gp before the end of surgery to see if theres anything to give you, quite often these things only last 24 hours so baby will not be at any risk.

I've had stomach bugs during the first trimester with all 3 of my pregnancies.... just this last time (sometime during feb 2011) I had a bug when I was about 6 weeks, felt dreadful for 2 days and had to cancel seeing a friend who is a gp. When I did see her a few weeks later she asked what had been wrong with me (she didnt know I was preg, but knew we were trying) - i said some sort of stomach flu, she looked very knowing and said "oh, they are SO common during the first trimester of pregnancy" ...so of course I told her I was pregnant, and she said its incredibly common during early preg for mums to be to get stomach bugs, she see's it loads in her surgery. THe reason why you feel so dreadful is because baby is taking all the goodness & is just fine, and you are being left with nothing! Dont worry about babe - just stay hydrated (easier said than done!), potentially buy some diarolyte if you can't keep anything else down. Put on a dvd for toddler, and stay as still as possible on the sofa. Hope you feel better soon x

apparently so... my friend is a GP & says she see's it all the time in surgery. Another female GP at her surgery was off with a stomach bug and, when she returned, she said to my friend "no doubt you have guessed that i'm pregnant because I was off with a stomach bug". I didnt realise it was so common either... just thought I was unlucky 3 times!!

I found out I was pregnant while in Cuba (at 4 weeks) and had a horrific tummy bug (at 5 weeks), you know, the "up every 20 mins, stuff coming out of both ends at the same time" sort of job.
Baby was fine (and is now a strapping 15 month old Grin).
The reason it's so bad is because your body is ultra protective of LO and is ejecting all the baddies as vigourously as it can. Just stay hydrated, I took the dioralyte (or boots equivalent).
Hope you feel better soon x
