I'm due tomorrow & didn't feel baby move as much as usual last night (it's generally an evening wriggler). Is this to be expected as I am so close to my EDD or do you think I should speak to the MW just to check all is well?

Speak to your midwife asap.

Movements can change as you get biger and the baby runs out of room to stretch and kick, but they shouldn't really slow down or stop. Definitely get yourself checked out. I'm sure all is well, but always worth checking.

You need to ring the midwife NOW and get this checked out. DO NOT hesitate, do not think you'll hang on a bit longer - just go out of the house now and get checked. It is simply not worth doing anything else.

Get checked ASAP.

Thanks for the prompt replies guys.

I spoke to MW who told me to call the hospital & they told me to go in for some monitoring at 10. Baby started wriggling as soon as I put the phone down!

I think that the answer to any question starting "should I call my MW..." should always be "yes"!

you should always test by eating something sweet, if you think you haven't felt anything for a while. My bf nearly lost her baby waiting all day on her due date. Hadn't felt much all day, called hospital, went in and within half an hour had an ec - turns out the baby was overdue the placent was dying and they had her dates all wrong - baby was in scu for a couple of days.

This is my second baby and I started out thinking I was up to speed but you really have to be watching yourself and not rely on the healthcare experts telling you everything is okay.

Hope you and you baby are fine, don't mean to freak anyone out by my bf's story but its definitley kept me checking movements

Northernlurker · 14/04/2011 11:32

You have still gone in for the monitoring though haven't you? It's always good to get this checked so you know exactly what's happening.

bessie26 · 14/04/2011 12:19

yes, still went in for the monitoring - everything absolutely fine Grin

They said that i should be noticing at least 7 movements a day, but if i notice any decrease in movement compared to normal i am to phone them & go in for more monitoring - they are open 24/7

Thanks again for all your replies xx

Brilliant news. Glad all is OK x

janedoe25 · 14/04/2011 13:12

bessie glad everything is ok! But you really should be feeling 10 kicks a day.

6 weeks ago i noticed i hadnt felt my baby move, i went to hospital for monitoring but it wasnt good news. My baby had passed away at 40+6 weeks.

So please do not hesitate at all if you notice a change in baby's movements decrease or sudden increase.

Jane so sorry to hear of your loss Sad

I didn't think 7 was very many, I had 17 in my head from somewhere, but thankfully baby is doing more than that anyway. My concern was that it was less than usual, but think it must have just been feeling lazy that day as it's been back up to speed since then!
