what about Jane or Janey, thats old fashioned. Ellen?

sweetkitty · 02/11/2005 13:19

Chloe is dropping down the popularity charts now though, think it's about 4th or 5th last year.

Have been scouring every name site for a name for DD2 and we are both keen on Talia right now. Not popular at all but not way out there.

Others on my short list are:

Caitlin (DP hates)
Leonie (DP not that keen)
Olivia (as Caitlin) in the top ten too
Charlotte (also in the top ten I think)
Madison (DP not keen)

Sweetkitty, yes chloe has dropped slightly, i can see why it's so popular though, beautiful name. Talia is lovely too, i really like that too, not as much as Leonie though LOL

laurenholly · 05/11/2005 22:26

thats nice lonelymum

Ellbell · 05/11/2005 23:06

Oooh, my dd1 is a Madeleine. It's a lovely name, and fits your criterion of being unusual, but not too whacky. It's also easily shortened to Maddie by people who can't spell it (... and there are a few)! I also quite often shorten it to Madge (which is possibly not to most people's taste, but I seem to be drawn to old-fashioned names... my other dd gets called Elsie!).

Ellbell · 05/11/2005 23:08

Also... I got told off by a school-teacher friend, for giving her a name which is hard to spell (not least because she also has a long and un-phonetic surname), but it's actually quite easy. I've taught her to say it as a rhyme...

Em Ay DEE
Ee EL
Ee AY
En EEE

(IYSWIM)

It works, anyway!

Ellbell · 06/11/2005 13:51

Oops, can't spell. Obviously that should have been:

Em Ay DEE, Ee ELL, Ee EYE, En EE...

Hope you know what I mean...
