Water Infection?

Hi ladies, I've felt quite poorly this evening, I thought it was because I'd had too big a lunch with my boss (he's left and it was his "farewell" lunch). Anyway, I was quite poorly on the toilet (sorry if TMI) and now it really hurts to pee. Does it sound like a water infection to you? Any ideas? I'm 32 weeks.

It could be, or it could be the start of one? If I feel one coming on, I make sure I have loads of fluids that day/night and the next day. This is because I think dehydration can encourage UTIs. I may be wrong, but it seems to work for me.

Not sure what others have to say about potentially other things to consider...

i got uti's about once every eight weeks before i was pregnant, now its more like every three :(
my symptoms are more like i constantly keep needing to go but then i can't squeeze any out when i eventually give in and go! as soon as i get up again i need a wee again! it's not painful just annoying!
i'm sure there's more than one type, but mines to do with a problem in my kidneys and it's not painful!

Hmmm.... I have something similar to what Marie describes. What I find though is that I can ALWAYS squeeze something out. Even straight after a wee. Even straight after that, too.. I tend to think it's a problem emptying my bladder rather than a problem with the kidneys.

Marie - are you sure yours is a kidneys issue? Do you know what it's called? Is it a problem, or requires no treatment?

I've been lucky during pregnancy that I haven't had any water infections, but I used to get cystitis all the bloody time!

If you even think you might have one, I recommend acting fast. My tips are... drink lots (there's nothing more depressing than not managing to squeeze something out), cranberry juice is your best friend, do something (anything) to get your mind off needing the loo (mumsnet, jigsaws, a walk) and, bizarrely, keep your feet warm! This is something I found online in desperation, scoffed at, and was then amazed when it works. When my cystitis was at its worst, I would sit with the soles of my feet on a hot water bottle and it stopped that 'need to go' feeling immediately. Magic!

i was in hospital for three weeks a few years ago with a really serious kidney infection. the ultrasound showed that one of mine was smaller than the other, which made it a lot of pressure on the fully working one which made utis more serious when i did get them.
i think i'm just unlucky and get them lots anyway, and the fact my kidneys aren't 100% means they become serious a lot more quickly if i don't get antibiotics asap!

that sounds like me, can squeeze a little bit out sometimes even if i've had a wee, i can go again ten seconds later! (too much info!) and the doctor said to me not emptying your bladder can cause UTI's. He said to go, stand and run the tap for a few seconds then go again, just to check because otherwise the bacteria can cause nasties!
