Bio Oil- good or bad?

I've been recommended Bio oil for stretchmarks and moisturising in general.
I found that last pregancies I didn't get any at all until the very few days (when I was actually late Hmm) and then I got some (not too bad) on my stomach.
Someone I know uses it all over her body and face and swears by it.

I just noticed they were selling it in Boots, I'd never heard of it. It's also really cheap on Amazon.

Is it good or full of chemicals? I like oils so would be tempted to try but wanted feedback first.

Nothing does prevent stretchmarks. Skin stretches at a level deeper than any moisturiser will reach. BUT it will help you feel less itchy and can help with the appearance/healing afterwards. You get them or you don't, based on many factors but mainly genetics.

My Mum has recently had skin cancer and her consultant said he wouldn't recommend bio oil over anything else really. He gave her a list of potions he liked (based on ingredients that are shown to help) and said the act of moisturising and the massage were important, not the brand.

Some of yours bled LovelyBunch poor you Sad. I had no idea they were that deep.

I looked like I'd been attacked by Freddy Kruger at the end of pregnancy. I had deep, red welts, some bleeding on my stomach, breasts, bum, back, thighs and knees. You can't really see them 4yrs on in terms of colour. I have holes though, like craters.

SOH mine are like that too, they were bright purple for about a year and a half and were deep holes and crater-like grooves. They have gradually faded to white. Dread to think what will happen with them this time round.

Amazon sell it for £10.19 for 200ml and free delivery which is super cheap! As for whether it works I'm slapping it on in hope!

I use coco butter which smells gret, absorbs easily and my friends who have had baby's swear by it - we shall see. I have some Bio oil from my mum but have not tried it yet.

I've been using Bio Oil as a normal moisturiser from before I was pregnant and my skin really likes it, it had become lovely and smooth and really worked well on my chest where I'd had some skin damage from sun so I am a fan. Anyway, Aldi do a very similar oil for a lot less if you are after something similar but think BioOil too costly.

huge fan of bio oil too. Love the way it feels and smells and my skin loves it too! am pg with no.4 and only have one small stretchmark so far. But do think it has alot to do with skin type in general. I just like the bio oil as it stops my skin feeling tight/dry and itchy.
