Can I tell baby's position from location of movement?

last week, the midwife told me that baby breech at 28 weeks. After mn and google research, I'm not too worried but I think it might have moved as had absurd amounts of movement recently. Is there any way of telling from where I'm feeling movements and how string they are how baby's lying now? Seeing midwife this week as measuring big so all will be revealed then bur would love to play informed guessing games til then!!

I've had very low (in bikini line) movement for most of my pregnancy - so had a good idea that baby was breech - the midwife couldn't tell so I had scan at 36 weeks that confirmed this - they tried to turn him by ECV last Friday but he wasn't having it so booked in for a C-Section Monday!

Most people have discribes the 'under the ribs' kicking that I've never had! I think after 36 weeks it is more unlikely they will turn - but not unheard of!

I've heard the SpinningBabies website mentioned before. They talk about 'mapping' the position of your baby according to the type and location of movement. It maybe of some use to you?

I've tried to find the answer to this too - as I seem to have kicks/movements in both my right rib cage and left hand side of my lower abdomen/upper pelvis at the same time.
Guess one of them could be punches instead of kicks - or hiccups. But can't differentiate between them.
But as long as I'm feeling something, I'm happy :)

Saw midwife again this morning and she couldn't be less worried about position of baby at 29 weeks. She wouldn't habe worried whichever number dc this was, but that with third babies more likely to turn anyway and also easier to get them to turn at 36 weeks . All because of lax muscles apparently-there had to be a bonus! Moved on now- have to limit carbs because measuring big. Now there's a worry- at the moment I live from biscuit to biscuit!!

Your MW would hate me then! All my 3 have tried to stay put once they found a position (at about 20wks) that they liked. DD1 was head down and raring for action. DD2 was transverse until 37+6 (day before my booked section) when she finally flipped. DS was breech all the way through. He was turned by ECV at 37wks. If that happens this time I won't be doing that again!

I'm convinced this one is also breech. Nearly all strong movements have been low down in my pelvis and against my bowel. The movements I get further up are generally much softer.

I was told if you have kicks on your right side under you ribs and a little lower then thats the babys feet, and if you also feel a movement in your pelvis that is evenly apart and very regular at times then its hiccups so thats the babies head. So should be in the best position for birth.

If the mdwife is still not sure by 34 weeks she may send you for a growth position scan to see how the baby is lying.

Im going for one on monday, but this is due to a massive bump! But they midwife isnt sure on the position either.
