I posted yesterday my OH took me to epu early yesterday and to cut a long story short we had a positive scan today with bubba at 7+3.

Has anyone out there experienced bleeding throughout pregnancy? I'm talking more than spotting.

I'm talking spotting and a bit more, it'd be nice to hear it happens and it's okay... Well ish.

Glad to hear you had a positive scan! V exciting!

My good friend bled - quite a lot - for about the first 20 weeks of her last pregnancy. She now a beautiful baby girl to show for it - but no explanation for the bleeding!

When I had a small bleed at 11 weeks, I posted on here and had loads of people telling me positive stories about bleeding during pregnancy - some of them describing it as a 'gush'. I am now 27 weeks pregnant and all seems to be going well!!

I do remember how awfully worrying and upsetting even a small bleed is, but your positive scan today is, obviously, a very good sign!!

Thanks Joyce!
I'm trying to think positively!

Hi glittery I had bleeding on and off including a couple of clots (sorry if tmi!) up until 13weeks. I'm now 24 weeks and haven't had any bleeding recently. I found it v stressful and kept worrying that it was the start of another miscarriage. I don't know if it made a difference but after the first bleed I was told to take it easy, avoid heavy lifting and exercise. Good luck and take care

Jep same here! Started bleeding last week, when I thought I was 11+6, had dating scan on Friday, turned out to be 9+1, bleeding started on Thursday. I could feel it gushing down, it wasn't as much as when you have a period, but I needed to change my panty liner several times a day, was so worried on Friday GP booked me another scan Monday, all was fine... baby had grown 4mm over the weekend, strong heartbeat. No cause of bleed.
They said I could go on with day to day activities but I decided to keep it easy and put my feet up for a few days, today I only had 1 time of spotting...
I know it is worrying, but I feel slightly better since yesterday.
Have another scan in 2 weeks time, hopefully all is still ok then.
EPU did tell me to come back whenever I worried or bleeding became worse... so far no need to.
I know exactly how you feel!

I spotted for days, then had a big bleed one morning and was convinced it was AF - got cramps and everything. It wasn't like an implantation bleed as was much heavier. I didn't know i was pregnant until around 7 weeks as i have PCOS and thought it was just my body being buggered up again so didn't bother doing a test till then.

Had an early reassurance scan and was told that if they see a heartbeat at 9 weeks there's a 99% likelihood of continuing to full term.

DS is now 5 months old and very, very healthy Grin

For my first pregnancy I bled every month for about 5-6 months, it wasn't red blood, but was more than 'spotting' I'd say. Ds1 is 5 now.

Hi there - to both glittery and grumpy - yes, I did (twice - at 6 weeks and at about 20 weeks) and I too remember being beyond worried. For info, it was bright red blood the second time, and tea like brownish the first (which can be a sign of an ectopic pg, as you know). Good news :) is that we have a very healthy almost one year old now. (Sleeping peacefully as I type, chuckle.)
So it can all be fine - but you are right to get it checked out. Both times I went along to the hospital and was given scans. One important point - if you are Rhesus Neg, make sure you get an anti-D jab ASAP as bleeding without the injection can cause problems for future possible pregnancies.
Aside from that - you're doing all the right things. Best thing (so easy to say now) is to take it easy - stress is the worst. Huge good luck - I hope it all goes really well from now on x

I bled all the way through with DS and not just early on. At 23+5 I went for a wee and got as far as pulling down my underwear, found it was full of blood, and went to hospital. Three days later I had another massive bleed and they admitted me, I was 24 weeks at that point. They told me that if it didn't stop they were prepared to deliver and that I'd be given steroids starting the following morning. Luckily it stopped over the course of the night. They monitored me carefully after that, MW fortnightly, consultant fortnightly, and a scan every three weeks. They also said they were inducing at 40 weeks as going overdue could risk another large bleed.

As it was I went into spontaneous labour and delivered exactly on my due date, DS was/is perfectly healthy.

Bleeding in pregnancy can't be classed as normal but it's very, very common and lots of ladies who bleed have healthy babies at the end of it.

Congrats on your scan :)

Yep - I think my body hadn't caught up with the fact I was pregnant. 1st time the doctors explained with a heavy implantation bleed, second they thought I might have been carrying twins and lost one, by the third/fourth month they didn't have an explanation.

I honestly think if I hadn't tested I wouldn't have known at all until about 6months.
