Hi, I am 38 and after trying for a few years - almost given up hope - we have now found I am 7 weeks pregnant! A little worried about my age although I think I look and act younger. Any other older mums out there? xxxxx

I'm 28 and at most of my appointments, antenatal classes etc I have been one of the youngest. Don't worry!

I'm 36 (37 in June) and pregnant at 14 weeks with our first. I was worrying A LOT about my age but now it doesn't seem to make any difference any more. We'll be fine!

I'm 40 in October, and 40 weeks tomorrow. I've had bags of energy pretty much the whole way through, and no reference made to my age by any GP, midwife or consultant bar, perhaps, at my booking when it was noted down I think. Just look after yourself, it's the only thing you can do really - and that's anyone, at any age. And congratulations!

Thank you - good to hear positive thoughts! I am the last of my friends to get pregnant. Many were married in their twenties and had babies in twenties too! We just took a little longer! Were beginning to think it would never happen. Were considering IVF self funding and then when I got my promotion at work - when my mind was elsewhere - low and behold we got the BFP we had always hoped for! Absolutely delighted though but cant wait for the 12 week scan and my booking in appointment on 19th April just for reassurance! Good luck everyone!

Hi Dilly,

Congratulations on your good news! I am 38 too (39 in August, baby due end of July). I feel great, young and full of energy. Well now I do:) I had a bit of MS at the start. Good luck with everything and enjoy your pregnancy.

dillydaydream32 · 07/04/2011 14:12

Hi RingEir

I am very tired at the moment - could sleep anywhere given the chance! No MS yet, just a bit squeamish at certain times of day and when I brush my teeth!! Good luck with your July baby! If my dates are right I should be due end of November. SO excited. My new boss has been fabulous - was a bit concerned as I found out 1 week after I had been promoted! Great believer in everything happens for a reason.
Thanks girls. what a fab site for getting some reassurance!

Congrats on your pregnancy! Don't be worried about age. I'm 40, and due in 3 weeks and I haven't had any comments or negative feedback - in reality, I'm probably much more conscious of it than anyone else. I was also only just the oldest at antenatal classes - four out of six women were 35 plus! Sometimes I think about the other end of things ie: when the child's 20, I'll be 60, but my parents were much older (39 and 46 when I was born) and were both very young in spirit. It really is up to you how you define things. Enjoy it!

38 isn't old any more - not the southeast anyway. I'm 37 having my second and my closest friend nearby is 41 and having her second. Don't get hung up on your age - it really is just a number and the experience of having a baby is pretty much the same whatever age you are.
