I am 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and keep getting pains every now and again in my stomach.

They are really starting to made me worry.
The are not unbearably sore but sore enough.

Can anyone help?

If you are worried make an appointment with you GP. It could be nothing but always worth getting it checked.

I had these too up until about 11 weeks, they felt a bit like period pain. But if you are still worried, check with GP!

From my pregnancy it is normal but i suppose on how bad it is I suppose. Mine was like mild period pain and even at 16 weeks I still get mild discomfort with sudden movements.

For my first one, my obstetrician said it was because until then my body had got used to where things were, and was complaining about stuff being shifted about, or preparing to shift about. I waited and it went away. Lots of other unexpected 'complaints' came, were explained, and went, too.

Always run to your GP if you're worried, they never mind. Mothers-to-be are a lovely change from the other stuff they deal with.

And if it's serious, all the more reason to go!

If they are period type pains - absolutely normal. I had it till 10 weeks, sometimes bad enough to be woken up at night. I researched it to death and had several checks with GP/EPU. It most likely mild stretching of uterus as it adjusts to the baby. Round ligament pain is different but also pregnancy related - sharp shots of pain where ligaments that hold the uterus stretch. Usually later in pregnancy.

I would not bother with GPs too much, they are great for everything BUT pregnancy. A call or visit to EPU unit should be more than sufficient and does not require GP referral.

EPU here won't see you without a gp referral, always worth checking.

bemybebe · 06/04/2011 13:02

ok, here where i am in England they do NOT need a referral, i thought it was across the country

bemybebe · 06/04/2011 13:07

here is a link to the EPU website

Sound like they have different rules for different units, so you will need to call if you want to visit "Do I need an appointment or can I just turn up?

This varies. Some units can see you if you just turn up there. At others you need to phone ahead to make an appointment. Then for some units you need to see your GP or midwife first so that they can make a referral for you to go to your local unit. To find out how the system works at your local early pregnancy unit."

There is alot that is different from hospital to hospital in pregnancy sadly. All policies vary, here it's GP referral for EPU, full bladder for scans, bloods at booking, then another pointless appointment after dating scan called a dating appointment which tells you what you already know from the scan.

But hey ho, it's only 9 months or so.

bemybebe · 06/04/2011 13:39

:)

Amazing: no GP referral to EPU, empty bladdr for scans, bloods ahead of 12 week scan, then at 12 week scan all the results and implications... wow, what a system.

As you said, hey-ho... another 4.5 months for me Grin

IllanaN · 07/04/2011 08:56

Thank you everyone for the advise really helped.

Phoned the EPU and they were really helpful told me that it is probably my uterious stretching and nothing to worry about, told to take some pain killers and if it continues to call them back. :)
